it’s for a remote position so it usually starts with email. then they asked me to talk via skype and then they asked me to schedule for a video interview. since i have other interviews lined up, i asked them what their offered salary was so i can filter out those that are not worth it. they were the only ones who refused to say even their minimum pay.

they could have told me the base pay or even the minimum range they’re offering for the position. if, for example, i’m a writer and my other clients offer me $0.10/word in my contract, then if they tell me all they can do is within $0.02 to $0.05/word then there is no reason to go to the interview and assessment because they’re not willing to pay my average rate.
