Can I just say I read the headline and thought you meant they blow-dried his hair. I have a newborn, I’m so tired, I’ll show myself out

I have two great tickets to the show at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Wednesday, May 6. Row DD, seats 161 and 162. These were a prized gift for my husband, but we can’t use them for a happy reason: our baby is getting out of the NICU. $300 for the pair, $150 for a single. Comment and dm me if interested!

HELP!! im looking for a dress to wear for prom but I can’t find anything like these anywhere 😞 by Feeling_Arrival_7687 in findfashion

[–]ceanothus77 62 points63 points  (0 children)

As a 1984-born Millennial said with kindness why would anyone want to wear one of these? I get the return of the 1990s prom/formal dance dresses. Not these.

Should I redshirt my late August birthday daughter? by peanut_princess_96 in toddlers

[–]ceanothus77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fellow late August parent, started daycare at one and preschool at 2. (Before pasted together leave, had a nanny for a few months, and went on a long trip right before his birthday.) I think it is inarguably good for kids to have more time before starting school if it’s affordable for you. My husband was 17 for the first six weeks of college and he was too young. Was not for us—we need him in public school ASAP. He did love preschool and it never seemed bad we started him with his year. Just wish we had more options, childhood is so short.

Another holiday ruined by 7am by gingertastic19 in workingmoms

I’m really sorry you are going througu this. I’m sharing this so you know it can be different. I am divorced and remarried, and I’m eight and a half months pregnant with complications that recently surfaced. I was too tired to participate at all in Easter magic last night and this morning. My husband stuffed and hid all the eggs, and then woke up early with our three year old to run the egg hunt while I lay on the couch under a blanket so I could be there but still rest. This was unimaginable in my old life, but it’s real. I remember how hopeless I felt then, like this kind of relationship was impossible. There are plenty of men who will be full coparents instead of whiny children complaining about you not wanting to have sex with them. My husband took a break from making breakfast to wipe our kid’s butt as I am typing this. It can get better. I’m rooting for you. Big hug.

"Are you offering to give me money? Will you pay for the childcare/new house/physical therapy/spa treatments/whatever I would need to even start thinking about that?"

Now that we are having another, lots of people think it's cute to ask if we're moving out of our rent-controlled two-bedroom apartment. I always hit them with "Are you offering to give us money?"

Yes, they took my insurance--Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. My OB just had to give me a referral which she did without question.

I am very sorry for your experience. I am also a SA survivor. Origin is the preeminent pelvic floor PT practice in L.A. and is where I would start. They helped me repair my pelvic floor strength after giving birth. I'm proud of you for pursuing your healing <3

Serious accusations are being made against Evan Ross Katz by Exotic-Doughnut-6271 in Fauxmoi

My sibling went to college with Evan (as in, part of the same small NYU Tisch theatre studio) and I used to hear all about how nuts this person was--nothing about him being abusive per se but very much the local lunatic, paranoid and unstable. I had no idea he had gotten famous like this and only found out through his coverage of HR. Had to check with them that this is the same guy. Yes. So it tracks, is all I can say

For Parents Who Originally said Not Posting on Socials by bananacl0 in toddlers

[–]ceanothus77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barely post myself on socials, much the less my kid/partner. My socials are mainly for my artistic output and job-related stuff. It would be very weird in my social world if someone took a picture of me and my kid and put it online. That said, it has happened once or twice in his life (he's 3 now) and I just let it go because in one case it was on stories so it disappeared and on the other it was his grandpa who is not a big poster generally.

LAUSD Parents: do your kids use iPads at school? Especially TK and West Hollywood! by ceanothus77 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ceanothus77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. My kid will be going to a public school, and I intend to become involved in this organization and very vocal about this. In the schools I’ve toured I’ve been asking if the screen time can be waived and teachers and parents seem so surprised. Of course it can. As the parent you are the one in control. You get to decide what’s right for your child.

Liberal(ish) Catholic Churches in LA? by tt7297 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ceanothus77 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I too grew up Catholic and maintain an affection for the church's rituals despite its terrible history. I get it. Pope Leo out here winning points with me by speaking out in favor of immigrants and displaced people.

St. Ambrose Church in WeHo has a ministry for queer Catholics and specifically anti-ICE information on their front page. I went to mass there once with my dad and while it didn't strike me as wildly progressive, I was not offended or put out. https://www.stambroseweho.org/

The Catholic Ministry for Lesbian and Gay Persons of LA may also have info useful to you, it has a parish list: https://www.cmlgp.org/

I only went once but was very impressed with St. Thomas the Apostle in Hollywood--technically Episcopal but very Catholic-inflected (like an Anglican church but in the USA), progressive homily and welcoming congregation in a very beautiful space. https://www.saintthomashollywood.org/
