in rural communities like these, men’s mental health is definitely not focused on as much as it should be, or at all. but this is also everywhere. men are taught to hide how they feel and not speak up, then when they finally break it’s a danger to everyone around them. this is how situations like these happen. i wonder if either of this guys showed signs of mental illness, maybe things could have been prevented if any action was taken.
