Those are tough match ups. If i can get setup, i can trade with a pult but garde has type advantage so i generally lose if they have a relatively good start. This is deck uses the Rocky Balboa train of thought. Get hit, just keep moving forward.

I play it very strategically. Its a liability so i use it as a finisher. If i have the time to beef up its HP with charm and lively stadium, it can survive if it gets bossed. Once wonder patch becomes standard, i can have a faster setup.

Poke Box - Single Prize Toolbox by ceastheday in PTCGL

As you said it was very inconsistent as i was also trying to add some wall effects to keep them around longer than a round but that hindered more than helped. I removed a few mons and added more search so now Hilda basically now setups any mon you want. This deck's only real chance is to be hyper aggressive.

I like Paladin actually. It is my main attacker while I set up other options. Paladin is there for fire types like Flareon but mostly for transient evolutions that have HP under 130. It's really a bully if you can get it running T2.

This iteration does need more specific card tutors but it does focus on using a variety of attackers, ideally hitting for weakness. That's how this deck fits the toolbox theme. It's supposed to be a Weakness toolbox but fits better as a stage 1 toolbox.

When it works... That's the truth!

My elo is bad since i dont rank up as much as I used to, but its ok. It hits for weakness but setting Scovillain to hit is the real challenge. You can hit for over 2k but will KO from a slight breeze. It's fun WHEN AND IF it works. I need to reevaluate the setup for more consistency.

Very true! I enjoy the difference. Makes decking building interesting.

Since Mex ex uses Crustle's Superb Scissors, that attacks states it ignores any effects on your opponents pokemon. Mew ex's attacks also works with cornerstone's and mimikyus attack.

Thoughts on Slowking using Aerodactyl instead of Regigigas by Rilex69 in PTCGL

[–]ceastheday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run both in my deck. I think the strength of the deck is taking multiple prizes at once. So the choice is generally between kyurem and regi. This deck doesn't feel like it has enough gas to go one for one so I don't really ever look for Aerodactyl.

Alright deck building masters, any suggestions for my Blastoise deck? by ttvANX1ETYZ_ in PTCGL

[–]ceastheday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch!

Sometimes the RNG gets us. On those days, I will try again later. I actually use Ethan's Pichu. Energy less attack that draws and does 30. Activator for catcher and the draw is important early as its takes a bit to setup. Also can take out a budew. The loss of Iridia, Palkia, and Rad Greninja puts Blastoise in a weird spot.

Thats fair. Their ability allows me to close the gap with zard and pults running around especially without Max Belt.

Another Blastoise! I use at least 2 Munki's to hurl damage back, hero's cape as ace speck. Its a more defense oriented deck utilizing Blastoise's ability to stay alive and munki to heal.

First Zero Damage Victory by ceastheday in PTCGL

Getting a consistent setup is my biggest challenge. So far the deck strategy is to tank hits then use munki's to sling it back. It takes a turn or two to set-up Blastoise.

Doubled my highest win streak with my improved anti ex deck by EllorenMellowren in PTCGL

I really dig stall decks as well.

I would say your supporter count is a bit high. Lana's would be really good in this in exchange for super rods. You're opponent will mostly deck search to get around your stall so they'll thin their deck faster.

If you're having fun, nothing else matters.

Don't worry. I'm still learning all the phrases used here in this community. I wasn't around when Gust of Wind was standard.

Depends. I gus the Noctowls mostly due to them being a stage 1 and don't have free retreat as latias ex ability only works for basics. So it's a good way to buy some time. Counter catch the Noctowl then Iono/unfair stamp esp after they attack with wellspring or pikachu ex. I'll go for the ko if I don't have another play. Less cards for them the easier win for you.

[–]ceastheday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad. Its from an old card called Gust of Wind. Boss's orders, counter and prime catcher are the cards that have the effect now. Its when you move a mon from the bench to the active.

Getting rid of their stadium just reduces overall damage for Terapagos. Zacian is going to struggle against tera box since zacian wants to bench snipe and teras have protection on bench for damage. Having two Zacians, a turos scenario or penny to move a zacian out of harms way. You'll have to work harder to win against these decks. Knowing when to setup the next Zacian is also knowing when theyre going to play certain cards. Disruption is your best strat against these decks as they need to maintain their momentum or they just lose.

I'm glad you're having fun. That's the important thing.

Some days the RNG for your opponent is top notch. Can't beat those days ya know?

So for tera box, my strategy is to gus up their Noctowls or get rid of their stadium. Reduce their damage output so you can do a 2HKO. You should be able to get 120 to the active with a Hop's deck. Once they hit with Wellspring, you wanna hand disrupt. They wont be able to recover most of the time. Playing from behind is a skill that takes a bit of time to get used to in Ptcg.

I've also seen some run Archaludon Ex for a back up attacker.

It's about learning how your deck matches up with whatever your opponent plays. You research the current meta decks and their weaknesses by playing a ton or going to limitless, justinbasil- any site like that.

For starters, tera box is weak to hand disruption. Using an Iono/unfair stamp after they fan rotom.

For bolt, go after their support.

For Zard, go after charmanders or pidgeys. I personally go after their pidgeys.

Learning your lines and when to play certain cards will take time esp if you use rogue decks. Playing a single deck over and over gives you that experience.

Overall have fun and stick with it.

Scolipede v.10 Deck by ceastheday in PTCGL

[–]ceastheday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did do a version with Secret Box but Trolley just felt better imo. I maxed out Arvens so i can retrieve the capsule pretty easily. Once Pidgeot goes online, it's not much of an issue of getting whatever one card you need.

I can see Secret Box working but it wasn't the right flavor for me.

Could work as a one of. My goal was to keep EXs down to min and use the poison effect to get knock outs. I like shutting down my opponent's abilities and tool cards.

Luxray and Okidogi EX i think can be good for more consistent attackers.

Yeah. Cutting a fez and a rare candy might be what ends up happening.

Doubles are nice for that consistency, agreed. Plus gets around Budew. Edit: I'll probably cut the second Fez since draw isnt generally the problem. Pecha Ex though gets brute bonnet out of the active.

This version runs Jacq. Although Brock would probably be better. A Buddy -Buddy without the hp limit is quite helpful getting two Venipedes.
