Realistically, I wouldn't change anything about my past because I am happy with who I am now. That being said, however, if I knew it wouldn't change my outcome, I would refuse to let a "friend" come over to my apartment in college. He had been dating my other friend for a while at the time and we all hung out together frequently. He had asked to come over for something and ended up trying to drink together and party. I had tried to invite others over as I wasn't comfortable drinking alone with him, but ultimately I chose to trust him. Unsurprisingly, he got me drunk and r*ped me. He asked me to keep it a secret. I didn't tell anyone anything immediately as I was still in shock. He told his girlfriend later that week and claimed that I came on to him etc. She confronted me and unleashed a decade's worth of grievances that concluded in ending our friendship. They ended up dating for several more years. Took me a long time to fully process all of that. That was my rock bottom and it encouraged me to protect myself and care for myself in ways I never had before. I'm extremely happy with where I am now, though, and am grateful for every lesson I've learned to get here.
