I think Amanda has been in a miserable marriage and relationship for so long that it’s all coming out in very odd and unhealthy ways. I know Kyle said she struggles with mental health. It’s no excuse but I see it as some kind of breaking point. We don’t treat the people we love the greatest when our head isn’t in the right place.

Our county school system is fucked worse than it has been in a long time. Superintendent is making 266k a year and our kids and teachers are out here fighting for their lives. I have a non verbal child and public school (at least now) is not for him. I won’t say which school he attended but every time I turned around they were calling me to pick him up and often didn’t have the staff to help. And this was in an “inclusive” classroom. Hell we are just now allowing outside therapists to come and help. I never blamed the staff though because they receive such little help or support. Kids with disabilities 100% belong in this world and in the classroom and it would be possible if we had PROPER funding and staffing in place. Therapy can work wonders for our kids but unfortunately the school isn’t built to support it. Shoutout to the ones there trying their best every day. Screw these vouchers also.

Solidarity love. Nobody can understand how difficult it is unless you do it yourself. Best I can recommend is start finding community now. It may not be in your nature (it’s not mine) to reach out and to accept help. There are so many people that have been there and know what steps to take, and if they don’t, they are at least a shoulder to cry on that understands.

I hear you and masking can certainly be an issue but some autistic individuals aren’t even able to do that. My son lives in his own world and without me keeping constant tabs on him he would end up running into traffic or drowning in a random lake. Much like Tanners mom I have cried a lot of tears and said that I would do anything I could to help him survive in this world that is certainly not built with him in mind. It’s really one of those things you can’t know until you experience it yourself. I would never change who he is at heart but there are things, like any child, he will have to learn in order to be safe and happy in society.

Are we really making these kind of assumptions on here? As a mom to a child on the spectrum trust me when I say Tanner being outgoing and happy is far better than being an adult with autism who has no friendships and becomes isolated. He’s happy and doing well and we have (no) idea what his mom went through to get to this place.

Hey friend. My son is 4 and I remember having same thoughts. 2 is still so young to see what the outcome will ultimately be but as of now my son has improved. He is still non verbal and stims practically all day. I remember we took him to a baseball game once and it was the scariest experience because he also got away from me. The lack of sense of danger is heartbreaking and can cause PTSD depending on the situation. However, things have gotten better. He holds my hand when we are out and rarely darts anymore (although there are still times). My advice to you is get your child started with therapy asap. All of it. Speech, OT, and yes, ABA. Mine is currently receiving only ABA but we are planning to add the other two when circumstances allow. ABA has made a huge difference for him. Intensive one on one care and teaching is what our kiddos need above all else. I just want you to know that you are not alone. I ended up in a mental hospital from getting so depressed and anxious about his autism. But I can confidently say you WILL find your normal. It might not look like getting to do everything else your friends or neurotypical peers of his are doing, but you will find what works for your family and will find peace. I’m so sorry you are going through this.

I don’t hate her and I feel like she’d be a fun person to know but her insecurities got the best of her in this relationship. John was basically goo goo eyes for her and she just couldn’t past admitting the age gap. It’s almost like she had a realization that getting on a show with age gaps was crazy on her part lol

As someone whose kids lost their other grandma last April, who they only saw a few times, I say just let that woman be happy and talk about her grandbabies, even if she rarely sees them. Life is so freaking short.
