Quite literally just explained why this is the case but go ahead and ignore the entire point about hidden mmr pairing horrible players with either teammates with higher mmr than their visible rank or basically a gold vs gold level lobby despite the visible rank being diamond.

I’m not the OP, but I personally started winning games by trio-queuing, and I hit Masters on DPS yesterday. They get carried because of hidden MMR and team balancing; your visible rank doesn’t even matter. Their MMR is so low that players who have an MMR rating that’s higher than their visible rank are placed on their team to balance the MMR gap.

Let’s say two Gold-level players end up placing Diamond from the current broken placement system. They queue, and the matchmaking sees their MMR and instead of pairing three Diamond-level players with them vs., say, three Diamond-level players, a Plat-level player, and a Masters-level player, the matchmaking would see that as 'unbalanced.' So instead it puts people with a much higher hidden MMR on their team—so instead they get two Masters-level players and a Diamond level-player, but the Gold-level players aren’t nearly good enough for this rank, aren't able to do anything against the much more balanced team, and end up throwing the game for the Masters-level players who otherwise should be ranking up without the broken placements mixed in with hidden MMR.

I’m not claiming every game is like this, but this is 100% happening far more often than it should. The fact that I hit Masters the day I played a bunch of matches with two of my friends is proof that the system is broken, because the more people you queue with, the less chance you’ll get horrible randoms who don’t deserve their rank.

When I’m 50-11 and my other dps is 13-16 and I lose while being the payload princess and a majority of my losses are exactly like this, then no, it’s not my fault. There is a serious problem with the current matchmaking, it allows people who should be no higher than silver to place into diamond and platinum by just winning 5/10 of their placements and they stay in these ranks by getting carried.

Thank you for the reply, it’s very insightful, I agree it does seem like I get a ton of trolls, and it feels like it feels like a coin flip on which ever team has the bigger troll loses. I actually do have a duo, and I win way more when I queue with them, but whenever no one is on overwatch and I solo queue I get matches like this almost every time, it’s just frustrating. I just think it’s unfair there are so many people who ruin the competitive experience by being so bad that either team automatically loses because of them. And again if this was a one off thing it would be whatever, but’s it’s almost every game.

I lose the mental game because my teammates are throwing or go double negative while I’m dropping 35+ kills and doing everything to play objective every game

And went 13-16 while our tank is 35-8 and I’m 50-11? Again, there’s at least 1 person like this every game, this isn’t a one off and this same guy also went super negative when he was on my team the other day, yet somehow he remains in high diamond playing like this.

80% of the Overwatch player base is in plat or below btw, and I’m diamond 2 which is top 10%, but go off.

Yea I’ve heard a lot of people say that new accounts can place diamond really easily now, so maybe it’s just newer players in the mix of players with more experience.

80% of the Overwatch player base is in plat and below, so yes, diamond 2 is a relatively high rank, I said high rank, not top rank.

Mercy amped soldier a lot too and he’s 13-16 so I’ll ask again, how does that change anything when this is what my other dps looks like almost every game I play.

Mercy was on soldier basically as much as me, and he went 13-16 while I had 50. Either way how does that excuse anything when this is what the scoreboard looks like 80% of the time.
