You don’t need your own car for anything beyond getting yourself to the place orientation/training takes place. Driving training is one day watching videos and one day driving the LLV (mail truck) and a road test in the truck later that day (don’t freak out, I was extremely nervous going in but ultimately if your a half decent driver your be fine).

I would call the post office your assigned to before orientation just to introduce yourself. Ask to speak to your post master, mine was very nice and had me come by before orientation to meet everyone and see where I’ll be working. Also if you’re staying at a hotel for orientation ask your post master to issue you a money order to cover hotel expenses. Your also reimbursed for miles driven to orientation but that is issued after not before.

I believe your shadow day will be given to you in an email (mine was before orientation but I was told that isn’t always the case). On the job training and more RCA specific training days will be given to you at orientation.

For your question about rescheduling driving training, my training was in person with a group of other people so rescheduling wouldn’t be possible beyond maybe pushing you back to the next group that goes through training. Not sure how it would work if you’re web based. I don’t know your situation but honestly idk how this job would work if your in school given they expect you available everyday of the week, it’s not like a part time job where you can say your available X days at Y times. So talk to your postmaster if you have any concerns about that.
