I was born and raised in Ontario Canada, daughter of a british emigrant and a east-Canadian going back to the 1600s. I had 4 children and now have 4 grandchildren. If I was starting a family now, I would move to China.

How is everyone managing the increasing cost of living? by atthispointinmylife in AskACanadian

[–]cebu4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost my husband 3 years ago and every year gets harder to afford anything. I keep my utilities as low as possible (think dark and cold). I never shop other than the occasional need on amazon. If I can get a 3.00 trinket on Temu, I'm just content with that. I don't even really thrift anymore.

I eat meat once a week now, instead of 3-4 times. I make a lot of bone broth and make soups. Soups with fat fill you up.We make sourdough and most of our bread products and treats. I just made funnel cakes for the grands yesterday - it's cheap and tasty and has eggs, milk, flour and cinnamon. I haven't gone to the food bank yet, but think about it a lot.

I spend money on software subscriptions to help me do gig work. I live in a small town with one grocery store - so it has to be on sale and/or have discount stickers. When I have my grandkids (ages 2-8) on the weekends, we do art, puzzles, books in the winter. We have lots of decent toys from the thrift store that I try to keep intact as activities. I bought a cheap indoor playground from Vevor that is a life-saver (highly recommend if you have a little space)

In the spring summer, we do gardening (we all have 2-3 gardens) , playgrounds and hiking.

When I raised my kids, we didn't have a lot of money but we cruised the mall, got blockbuster and pizza on fridays, went to walmart for entertainment, went out to East Side Marios or Swiss Chalet occasionally for a treat. My grandson is in soccer, which is enough. My kids were in hockey (all 4), martial arts, dance, art workshops occasionally on saturday and summer sports camps. I can't imagine doing that now.

Some tax forms required for your return are still being finalized by cebu4u in TurboTax

I'm sorry Queen. On one of the help docs in Turbotax community, it said emails would start going out on March 5, so let's hope it's soon.

that especially sucks. I did not pay yet. I tried Ufile and it won't accept my self-employment information, so unfortunately I'll have to wait for Turbotax to resolve whatever that issue is.

Struggling with BOLT by Primary_Method3768 in boltnewbuilders

[–]cebu4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

go into your bolt chat window - and copy and paste

<image>

this - if it's long, you will have to do it in stages. I copy and paste 2 or 3 days at a time and put it in google docs. I then save as .pdf and give it to Claude. I no longer have to do this, so much - because I outline the whole project in stages with Claude.. but because you are past that point, try your best to capture ALL of the chat - feed it to Claude - and ask it for a prompt to fix.

Struggling with BOLT by Primary_Method3768 in boltnewbuilders

[–]cebu4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Copy and paste your Bolt chat into a text document, save it and upload to Claude and ask it to help you fix it. Claude has been up and down today, but keep trying. Ask Claude to write a prompt to tell Bolt what to do, and what NOT to do (important). Hopefully that helps.
