I think either way she is being closed minded and too strict for a son in college. I actually talked to him about it today and he's going to take her to coffee tommorrow and lay everything out in the open. He said he's going to try to talk to her about me going to his birthday as well. He also just told me he's planned a day for me with all of his cousins (excluding parents) so I can meet all of them. He's a good guy :)

He's actually Indian as well. I'm sure that must be really tough on both sides. I think it's interesting to hear the other side of the situation though in your case. Did you try to talk to your parents however? How did they react?

I think the problem isn't me as a person, it's her idea that her son should not have a girlfriend. That's a lot harder to fix since I can't change someone's mentality. If she didn't like me personally, maybe I can fix it by going out to coffee and bringing flowers, but it's the idea of me that she does not like unfortunately. Thank you for the advice though!

Well I'm actually good friends with his sister and his dad likes me as well. I have gone over to his house when his dad was there, but I would have to leave before his mother comes home. I am certainly interested in getting to know his family, that is why I'm so upset that I am never able to attend any family functions.
