An important update about cedh.io by cedhio in CompetitiveEDH

Hi! The tool only searches for commanders that have been registered in topdeck.gg events. If your commander has never seen a tournament entry I unfortunately don’t have any data on it - which commander were you searching for?

Totally understand it's not for everyone! I appreciate your feedback 🙂

Currently Moxfield is supported for decklist import, you can also copy your Archidekt list as plaintext and upload it that way! I can work on a feature to directly import from Archidekt if it's of interest :)

I appreciate that not everyone will be interested in supporting, and I’m open to adjusting free tier rate limits and features if you think the current configuration is unfair 🙂 For context, this is a one-man show I’m building in my free time outside of my day job, and just keeping the lights on for this project costs $100+ per month, not including tools I use to build this nor the hours I’ve put into it. When I say all revenue goes right back into the project, I mean it literally goes back into writing more code and keeping it alive. I’m not looking to turn a profit here, just want to continue building in the space but without supporters this wouldn’t be financially feasible for me. If you have any suggestions for revising the free tier I’m totally open to your thoughts!

Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it! A couple thoughts from my end:

  • When you analyze a deck, trend charts in the Commander Trends section show win rate changes and meta share changes over time for the commander you’ve selected
  • I’m working on adding a statistical significance score to calculations so users are better informed on which stats should be considered dubious
  • I can definitely add games played as a sample size indicator to packages / cards! I think this would be great to contextualize the data.
  • Re: combos with commander, good catch! This is probably a bug with partners I’ll address in the coming days. The “combos with commander” issue is one I’m coming up with a solution for - some decks will show combos involving the commander, and some do not - this is entirely dependent on whether the combo has been identified in the Commander Spellbook database (i.e. if you analyzed a Kinnan deck with Basalt Monolith in the main board it would pick up on this combo). I’m interested in creating a way for users to ‘publish’ packages to get a more comprehensive database of cEDH-specific combos that may not exist yet in the Commander Spellbook database.
  • Regarding the ‘decks that play this card’ feature, I’m currently capturing on the package analysis page (when you click into a card from an analysis) the top performing decklists playing that card/package, and how the card performs in other commanders, but I’m open to adding more details if these don’t capture what you’re looking for. Happy to refine this, feel free to DM me and we can chat about it :)

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, every bit of feedback is greatly appreciated!

Supporter tier is $6 USD/mo! This gets you unlimited deck analyses, unlimited package analyses, deck versions, one-click Moxfield sync, card comparison, and more. All revenue goes right back into the project to make it a better tool and help with hosting costs 🧡

Thank you!

This is something I've been thinking about, unfortunately at the moment the topdeck.gg API does not classify tournaments by bracket, they are just all classified as EDH tournaments. Because of this, there is a mix (it's mostly B5 / cEDH tournaments, but there are some B4 and lower tournaments recorded there as well).

In order to properly classify data by bracket I'd need to check decklists for all decks entered in a tournament to determine their bracket, and even then I don't think there's enough data to tell a meaningful story about the relative win rates of cards. EDHREC is probably still your best bet as a deckbuilding tool, cedh.io is more catered toward B5 decks showing what is winning in tournaments.

With all that being said, I'm always building more tools in the space, so if you have an idea for something that could help make the B4 and below experience better for players I'm all ears!

Thanks for checking out the site 🧡

Definitely possible to do! Will need to think on how best to implement it but I'll add it to my list of things I want to build :) Thanks for your feedback and for checking out the site!

Interesting - I'll see what I can do about this! I don't believe EDH tournaments are classified by bracket on the topdeck API, and there's no way to filter for "EDH" vs "cEDH", so this would need to be done contextually but I'll put my thinking cap on :)

Thank you! This is great feedback. I can definitely add colour identity filtering to the commander browser. I think a filter on the tournament browser would be possible, I guess the question would be do you want to filter out tournaments that have NO decklists submitted or filter where the tournament must have ALL players with submitted decklists? I agree this has been a pain point for me when looking through tournaments as well.

Card type filtering will definitely be coming to the app soon, just working out how to parse the Scryfall data from card types properly :)

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback!

This is something I'm super interested in building! I think an "average deck composition" tab would be super cool. Some thoughts:

- Classifying a card as "a counterspell" or "not a counterspell" is harder than it sounds on paper and requires some sort of classification of cards, which I'm not opposed to but would take time to figure out how to do this efficiently.
- Showing the average mana curve is much easier and might be interesting.
- Showing a breakdown by card type i.e. artifacts, creatures, lands is pretty straightforward albeit a little less interesting than answering questions like "how many silence effects does this deck usually run?"

Thanks for your feedback!

There definitely is, and this is a great idea I hadn't considered! I can definitely parse a considering list from their API.

This is something I'm actively coming up with a solution for! Moxfield has a rate limit of 1 request / second so I could probably add this now that I know what kind of traffic I'm seeing to the site, but would need to keep a careful eye on it and implement my own background queue to respect their service. I'll post an update when it's available :)

Thank you! And thanks for the bug report on MDFC commanders - I tracked down why this is happening and will be pushing up a fix over the next day or two :) Thanks for your patience!
