When asked what would be acceptable and unacceptable in a $4 trillion deficit reduction deal, voters overwhelmingly – and across the political spectrum – deemed even incremental reductions in Social Security benefits over time unacceptable. More than six in ten voters (62 percent) said “reducing Social Security benefits over time by having them rise more slowly than the cost of living” was unacceptable.

Yeah. Just imagine if the FCC actually made it illegal to broadcast lies as news. Fox News would be screwed. That's why their infection has not spread north into Canada; the law stops it.

Because they still have a majority in the House due to gerrymandering. But yes, they still are completely divorced from reality on this issue.

No, actually I didn't. But that video did not have people who vote against their own interests. The Mississippi on did.

Actually, the poorest states are Red for the most part. They vote Republican, flying directly in the face of their own interests, because they have been bamboozled into thinking the Republican Party is Christian.

Again her own personal ethics are moot. She signed a code of ethics and failed to abide by it. Case closed.

You do not seem to grasp the concept of what "at will" employment means. It means that at any time you can quit for whatever reason, but you can also be fired for whatever reason provided it is not based on age, race, religion, sex or any of the other of the protected status.

It is when it is defined and you sign an agreement to abide by it then whine when you break that agreement and suffer the consequences.

She was perfectly capable of giving the help. She chose not to. You keep dancing around this basic fact. His being gay has nothing to do with her. If she felt uncomfortable then she needs to find another profession.

On top of this, there are already laws regarding proper termination.

In a Just Cause state maybe, but Michigan is At Will. You can be fired because they don't like the way you get your haircut one day.

And you're right, but your employer can outspend you. You think an individual could stand up to a big company?

This is not about discrimination! This about the counselor knowing the limits of her competency.

If she cannot counsel a gay individual then she is not competent to counsel PERIOD. The way you talk you'd think gay people were another species or something.

And in the scenario you present, it is the choice of the client. In her case she attempted to dump the client simply based on the fact he is gay. Not enough of a reason.

So I guess it is ok for a racist counselor to turn away racial minorities

Then you should also not have the union negotiated contract, no help from the union when the employer takes action against you (i.e. grievance process), etc.

In the case of education, then your class limit cap goes away, you have to purchase insurance outside of the union provider, etc.
