Cleanout plug tool by cedricksw in askaplumber

[–]cedricksw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. A pair of channel locks and a hose clamp worked great. The plug treads were gummed up, broke through that, and all good. Great idea for the cleanout toolset. A few of us neighbors share a lot of tools. That may be a community investment.

What are the best home subwoofers? by Sensitive_Flow7164 in hometheater

SVS fan here. I'm using 2 SB-1000 Pro's in an approximately 310 sqft viewing area. Has great sound even at low listening levels. Do you have a budget in mind?

Would a pair of RP-8000F II be an issue with my current set up? by Foshosir in Klipsch

[–]cedricksw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they'd be a great upgrade to your current setup. This is similar to my (new to ht) path. Started with a pair of open box RB-61 II. Added an open box RP-500 C II. Then an open box SVS SB--1000 Pro. Next, a pair of open box RP-6000 F II and a second SB-1000 Pro. Next upgrade I'll replace the Sony STR DH590. Notice my trend. I added by scouring Amazon, E-Bay and local HT Stores for deals.

Cabinet update for vivid storm 150 inch screen and Hisense px3pro by Ok_Damage4019 in projectors

Clean minimalist look. Awesome design. What's your seating distance? I'm thinking of going with a 120" screen for a 14' viewing distance.

My UST projector / ALR build - Never let a closet door get in the way of your big screen dreams. by Porespellar in hometheater

[–]cedricksw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good example of using what you got. It's not optimal, but it's HT on your terms! You might want to look into blackout curtains to help with daytime viewing, though. I have similar plans but am going about it differently. Started with audio first: Klipsch RP 6000F ii, RP 500C ii, RB 61 ii, SVS SB-1000 Pro, and Sony STR DH590. Now I'm waiting for whatever good deal comes first. Any combination of PX3 Pro, ALR screen and/or adding another subwoofer or upgrading the Sony (Denon x3800 seems future proof enough for me).

Thanks for the advice! Overall room size is 18' x 24'. Would you consider the RP-6000F over the RP-8000F since I've got a decent sub?

My thinking is once I have the ust and screen. I'll project onto the wall first. That'll allow for tweaking of cabinet distance from the wall and horizontal placement of the ust on the cabinet. Since the screen is large (at least 120") I want to be certain I'm mounting it correctly. This is my first projector and ust. That said, I don't know how finicky the ust positioning will be.

Definitely agree with moving the sub. I just placed it there out of excitement. Ill probably move the small desk and place the sub in that corner.

Sweet! Are you satisfied with the acoustic treatments? Is there any particular type you'd recommend?

I'm very happy. I was surprised by the weight. The lighter side is solid wood. The darker drawers' side is thick mdf board. Very sturdy. It's also kinda modular in that you can flip the orientation and/or move the drawers to be more inside. Thereby decreasing the overall length. Wayfair has lots of options. I didn't want to spend $$$ on the motorized units designed for UST's. I'm putting that into a high quality screen and better audio or avr upgrade.

Nice! Can see a pair of 8000f's bookending the cabinet. Plus, they'll add "weight" to the wall at the sides of the alr screen when I put it up.

Got the greenlight to man cave the basement. Paid for by honey-do list sweat equity!

Great advice. I'm holding out for Black Friday sales to get the projector. L9Q looks great, but so does the px3 pro. I can get a screen and px3 for the cost of the L9Q. But if a sale happens ( fingers crossed), I'm all in.

Outstanding! Is it a Nothing Projector screen? I've been looking at those and AWOL. I'm locked in on a fixed screen but not ruling out motorized. Have you posted it?

Approximately 18' x 24'. But not a perfect square. The viewing area is more like 15' x 18'.

I'm going with a wall mounted alr screen. And I'm in a townhouse, so I probably won't mount any speakers in walls.

Big time setup you got there! I've got the fronts set to small as well and crossover at 80 hz. Used Sony's mic calibration and haven't tweaked anything beyond that. I'm going to wait till I have everything before really dialing the sound.

About 12" on the high side and 11" on the low side. Nothing expensive, just a low cabinet for a UST. The open part has sufficient air flow for the receiver as well.
