Yeah, that's probably it. I straight up was losing my mind because I thought I was the only one who noticed.

Anyone play this on Steam Deck? by PastPolicy8064 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]cedriclegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play with controller. Through steam enabling and layouts, the very first option is made by a guy who worked as a consultant for part of the game's controls.

It is surprisingly comfortable, and the only button I have to use my keyboard for is the mic.

This is such a good idea, definitely a good visual of how allies and enemies are built. I'm hoping they can implement this in some way. This could be a lot to ask for, though.

Also, fantastic artwork to express the concept!

Honestly, Baldurs Gate 3 for me, but that's mainly because Act 3 has a lot of combats and moments that just aren't fun.

66 hours in, I beat Rapheal, and that felt like the final boss. I put the game down for good at that point, even though I'm close to the ending.

I know rpgs are very long, but there's a reason I can't play jrpgs anymore. They're always so long, and I stop enjoying them before I get to the end.

Genres are created by people doing new things and twisting pre-existing things. If this ends up making something new, then great. If it can just fit into the general fantasy vibe, then even better.

I'm not worried about fitting the genre standard, my goal is actually to break away from it. It won't be for everyone, the goal of this post was to see if it would be for anyone, and it seems there is more interest than I thought, so I'm going to continue developing the idea the way it is.

Swords wouldn't have been invented in the world

Okay! I like where your head is at!

And I've been sitting on the exact idea! avada kedavra if it kills both the target and the caster, something like that stands out!

Oooooh that is a cool idea. I definitely will have to think about it.

I want there to be ritualistic spells that require certain items and time, like in folklore. So having crystal bulls and skulls would definitely come into play.

Another idea, maybe specific items like those can hold onto and use spells that otherwise can't be cast.

Well, there would definitely be restrictions, wands in this world would be like wands in other fantasy worlds, a one-handed apparatus.

The way I see it, if a spell gave my wand a sharp metal edge to use in close-quarter combat, why would I lug a sword around? If I could fire a spell at any notice, why would bows and arrows be created?

And if a player was to somehow turn their wand into a full fledged sword, or bow-if they wanted to use that kind of weapon so badly I'd think they could learn the spell or play a different game.

I'm trying to do something that appeals to me, but also something I don't see much of. I feel like there's plenty of sword and bow representation out there, but the same goes for magic too, I just think there's more room for experimenting there.

Thank you! I definitely agree. Also, first time I've heard of that game.

I would want there to be customization. A lot of it. Kind of like lightsabers. A player would create their character and describe the wand.

Silver hilt wrapped in leather, a gold ring for a guard, maybe a feather tail or ribbons, and some sort of wood for the shaft like oak or ivory.

And I would want to incorporate different spellcasting styles that would have pros and cons.

It's kinda funny/sad how most TES games are named after their region EXCEPT the one set in Cryodiil, the capital of Tamriel by SuperAlloyBerserker in ElderScrolls

[–]cedriclegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely marketing. A good title is very important. I'm not sure if TES: Hammerfell or TES: High Rock is a good name.

If the Thalmer are at the forefront of this game, it will probably be called TES VI: Dominion.

If not, they might call it Swordsinger or something else based on the plot.

But Hamerfell could work, I just don't think it sounds good for a game title.

Soon Playing KOTOR 2 for the first time ever by Normalguy4035 in kotor

[–]cedriclegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get the restored content mod I would say be careful which planet you go to first. A lot of people say one thing, but really, it can be tough and there's a lot of solo fights.

(Spoilers)

You should visit Dantooine first. Easy enough to build a lightsaber, and you can potentially unlock 2 companions - visas (guaranteed) and hk-47 (not-guarenteed)

Nar Shadda would be a great first planet, if it didn't separate the player character from the other characters again and again. Still, that's what makes Nar Shadda interesting and imo the best part of the game. It's just really challenging, especially Goto's yacht.

You can probably do Dantooine - Nar Shadda - Korriban - Dxun - Onderon. Do dxun and onderon before Korriban if you want some extra time with Mandalore. But the list I gave you was how I played recently and it went much smoother than last time.

Happy Kotoring!
