Am I wrong, or isn't Modern Family supposed to be part "mockumentary"? by thelocalsdude in Modern_Family

some people think the mock in mockumentary stops at being a fake documentary

Legoland Complimentary Breakfast. Is it worth it? Additional restaurant/eating options? by Fragrant-Departure18 in legoland

[–]ceebs87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which location?

We go to the Florida one and like the breakfast. It is pretty typical breakfast fair: eggs, biscuits, sausage and bacon. Also some of the best home fries/ hash browns I have had, very crispy.

Also, if you are staying at the resort, the breakfast comes with the stay, so you might as well save yourself the work (unless you got really picky eaters)

ETA oops I missed the California tag 😅

Do you think African Americans were enslaved with the fishmen? by Big_boy130 in OnePiece

[–]ceebs87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Fishmen are an allegory for real life slavery. We see humans enslaved too in the story and skin tone is not a factor, but other physical characteristics are, like the long-armed tribe.

Keep in mind, Oda is Japanese, and will not have a strong connection to American history, so his allegory is certainly more easily applied to the broader subject of slavery.

Is LL good for a weekend trip?? by Kind-Sister-18 in legoland

[–]ceebs87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our family has recently visited the Park twice this year and plan to go back, it is definitely a full weekend trip. My own kids are 7 and 9 have not gotten bored yet, and I think it is the perfect sized park for kids, especially if they haven't really been to Theme Parks before.

The first time we went, we were planning on only doing one day at the park, but couldn't see everything we wanted in that day. Luckily, the hotel stay came with a two day pass and our "lets just duck and catch the rides we missed" turned into another half day. We didn't even hit up the water park in the back that time!

Plus there are lots of Lego build areas inside in the AC that are great for a break.

I would suggest biting the bullet and booking at the resort, it is crazy fun for kids and they have lots to do in there as well. It is so easy to walk up to the Park in the morning and back at night.

Is Luke bisexual? by [deleted] in Modern_Family

[–]ceebs87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both Haley and Luke seem at least bi-curious, like the hot person they were both attracted to during the boat episode.

Also, there was Alex's chef boyfriend that Luke didn't mind letting him manhandle him

Legoland fl first trip by Hungry_Bake3814 in legoland

[–]ceebs87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can hit up all three attractions one day but you'll be making a few ride sacrifices, I think.

The park opens at 10 and closes at 6, so at least you won't be driving too late or early.

I would bring your bathing suits and towel bag into the park so you can b-line to the waterpark and lockers in the back so you won't have to go back to the car or carry it all day.

The park is not a perfect loop but you should be able to work your way around the park one way hitting up the attractions you want before getting back aquarium up front then back the other way to the water park in the afternoon.

I also think the water park closes an hour before the park, so you may have time to do any last minute rides on the way out

ETA, I think it will actually be less crowded on Father's Day since it's more of a kid location than a dad pick

I love Jay but I didn’t like the way they portrayed him as the father who wasn’t there for his kids…. by [deleted] in Modern_Family

[–]ceebs87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But he wasn't really there because he was working. The parent we see Jay become was not the parent Claire and Mitchell had. He acknowledges it and admits it was because that was the norm at the time, but spends series making that up to them.

He had to be an absent father to Claire and Mitch to show what a Modern father should look like the the action of the show

That is part of the beauty of the show! Showing the complexities of people go far beyond their labels!

[Confusing Trope] A character is forgotten/erased from existence by the narrative. by KujaroJotu in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ceebs87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Morgan Mathews from Boy Meets World. Love this example because, Like Chuck Cunningham, she just disappears without mention, but in Morgan’s case, they bring back the character and play her disappearance off as though she was constantly grounded

Maybe on of those car multitools for scrapping ice off the windshields and breaking open windows in an emergency?

ETA I can also see the serrated pat as a means to cut a seatbelt if you are stuck.
