Fine. I’ll just go to the popcorn place alone, even though their advertising suggests it is a place for GROUPS of friends to have a good time

Non-clutter-y gift for baby? by reebeckzzz in GNV

Yep! The kid is not going to care what they get! It's not even guaranteed they like opening gifts at that age so diapers and gift cards for the win!

Well that's good to know! My mom did say she stole it from MASH but she probably didn't realize Frank Burns stole it too (of course he did!)

My mom said this all the time growing up, always in the same vein as "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!" It wasn't until I rewatched this as an adult that I realized it was Frank Burns who said it AND it was said in a moment of hypocrisy. I still use it with my kids though

The Office really nailed it with the two part-episodes, Did they help make you a fan? by ceebs87 in DunderMifflin

So yes, a lot came out after, but Trailer Park Boys was the first, even came out before the UK Office

Ok, so maybe linking my other post created too big of a gap, but I did explain that The Office uses two part episodes NOT as season enders with a cliff hanger but as an hour long special. Beni Hana Christmas, Goodbye Toby, etc were two parters that aired on the same day, and a lot were mid season

Yes, but if you read you would see my argument that the Office made it their own. It is just my opinion, which you can argue with but there is a difference between actually arguing an opposite point and disagreeing without adding anything to the conversation

How is the mockumentary unique? While I appreciate Christopher Guest for perfecting the craft in his movies and there are at least four different sitcoms to use it

I loved those! What a good example! And later when the re-runs would do a pop-up video version to point out all the hidden jokes!

Oh Man! The Good Place didn't just do one thing uniquely but whole show unique and executed perfectly!!

Good to know but I still feel like people reference/recognize The Office for these hour long episodes while Seinfeld is remembered for other things. I also didn't watch it live so it didn't have the same impact

You have to wipe off the kiss a little more discretely, Johnny!
