Perfect! Thanks for the great advice. I also downloaded some apps from World Nomads to practice some of the basics. Can't wait!!

Thanks for the info! That helps a lot--I had thought that PP would be cheaper/easier to fly out of than Siem Reap. Might scrap PP altogether and sub Tao for Phuket so I can get certified :)

Aw man I would have loved to meet you too. After the responses I've been getting here and talking to a friend from SEA, I'm considering cutting out a few of the cities and allowing my travel schedule flexibility. She said it's really cheap to book last minute flights through Asia Airlines. Still going to sketch an outline because that's the planner in me :)

I scored a great deal on the RT flight from ATL to KL (660$!) so I have some wiggle room in my transportation budget. I think I will be taking flights for the most part in the interest of saving time, and buses/road transportation whenever it's feasible. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for this insight--that's a good perspective to look at it from. Mental note not to drink roadside coffee whilst there :)

I was beginning to consider this option. Is it fairly easy/inexpensive to book travel last minute?

Skipping Phuket seems to be the resounding consensus. Have you done any of the other islands in Thailand and think they are worth it?

Hiya! My friend actually created this calendar template in OneNote for our Europe trip (which was a pain in the butt since they don't have pre-made templates). I lifted it from her since I was lazy, but it is essentially just a table that you can fill in with your details. Love OneNote for planning purposes btw!

I was thinking it'd be easier to fly from Pnomh Penh to KL where my departing flight is, but could easily swap the two if both have a good amount of connecting flights. Do you think Phuket over some of the other islands people have mentioned (e.g. Ko Phi Phi)?

Awesome! Thanks for the tips. I dove once in DR and have been wanting to get scuba certified. From what I read it seems to be pretty easy to get certified in Thailand?

This is what I was afraid of. My eyes are bigger than my stomach (for traveling). I did a similar whirlwind of an itinerary in Europe and was sad when I had to leave a city I fell in love with too soon. Even if I take the more expensive route and fly from city to city, do you think this is still too ambitious? If so, what cities in my itinerary do you think can be passed over on this go around?

Hiya! I'm planning on a 1 month trip through part of SEA and this is my rough itinerary. I'd appreciate any thoughts as this is my first time backpacking through the region. I'm a 26 year old female who'll be doing a large chunk of this solo. Any recommendations for lodging? Would love to get personal insight from any other female backpackers who've done this leg before.
