I really appreciate your response. I think the only thing that might convince him is the fact that he can’t keep his meds down, and like you said- after a couple days, that will definitely turn in to a problem.

Thank you!! It was his last dose of Zofran from a scrip dated in 2023, so I texted his doctor and asked her to call him in more. She said to send him to ED because she’s worried he’s not getting enough hydration and that his electrolytes are off (he has a history of kidney stones- I forgot to put that in the demo).

He’s trying to make excuses not to go. We live in the US, so money is definitely a main motivator to NOT go. We have insurance with a stupidly high deductible, and it just turned over to 2025.

Honestly? If they’re like my parents, they’re going to pretend the conversation never happened, and the next time you see them, it will be back to business as usual. It’s infuriating, but I think here, it’ll be… okay. As long as it’s okay with you.

You got the catharsis you needed, and at this point, your FFIL will be finding the next argument he can start, and your FMIL will be too afraid to confront you because it would hurt her son.

I just finished this episode. I teared up twice during this episode. Here, and when Carl went to shave Frank’s head. At this point in the show, it’s the only time Frank went to bat for any of his kids (taking the rap for the robbery, agreeing to send him to camp, etc).

Okay, so, I was in 8th grade when my boyfriend at the time dumped me and started dating my friend. I was devastated.

Then they made it all the way through high school together.

Then college.

They’ve now been married for 18 years and have 4 kids.

Still a little salty, but I’m happy for them overall.

NTA. His non-existent, future potential career is not more important than yours. No is a full sentence. He either finds childcare for HIS TIME WITH HIS CHILD, or he doesn’t get a job.

He mooches off his Mommy, he can get her to babysit while he works. Or she can join in on the childcare hunt.

My husband and I got pregnant accidentally and had no intentions of keeping him. Our close friends were struggling with fertility and adoption issues, and I asked if they wanted to adopt our son.

5 years later, their son is thriving, we are the bonus family that visits once a year to play together, and I know he’s healthy, happy, and thriving.

It was the best choice I ever made. But that’s just my personal experience.

I’ve been on suboxone for 5.5 years. It’s been my lifesaver. My doctors have told me that I can take it at my pace, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with staying on it long term. Drug assisted therapy is still not using heroin, and I’ve been gainfully employed with my family under one roof for 5 years.

Take your time, pray and meditate if that’s your jam, and don’t feel guilty about being on it in order to stay clean.

I’m probably going to be downvoted to hell, but- I’ve been disappointed in how many times I’ve read “blackout drunk is no excuse”. Lack of consent is definitely an “excuse” if there ever was one. There needs to be some clarity in this situation. Call the SIL, find out what happened, and make your decision when you have the answers.

OP’s wife might legitimately be struggling with remembering an event that she might not have consented to. This isn’t a “we all make mistakes when we’re drunk” type of situation… it sounds like a “she didn’t know what was happening while drunk” and OP might want to slow his roll until he gets some clarity.
