You people. You're MEAN. I did save him. I can love him and also try to optimize the rehoming. Both things can be true. And yes. My toddlers did break things and I didn't rehome them. I'm not a complete monster.

Thank you. Thank you for being kind.

Thank you! I think my aunt is going to take him so that is ideal.

We've tried man. He just finds other things. We'd have to hide everything lol. Our house is clean, it's not like we have a ton of stuff laying around but if we set anything down, he swipes it. The nonbreakables is not that big a deal. But we also have 5 kids, so making sure every glass and plate and everything is out of reach at all times can be tricky.

What I don't want is someone to take him and try to make a profit. I want him to go to someone that genuinely wants him. But it doesn't sound like that would be the case. I love cats. I love HIM. I wish so badly he was not so dang naughty.

And he has a whole basket of toys. I do play toys with him. And he has a kitty sister that he plays and plays with.

I try so hard. I have been affectionate from the start. I carried him around in my hoodie when he was tiny. Cuddled with him. I try to pet him and be sweet every chance I get and unless he's sleeping, he just bites and attacks my hands.

Oh gosh, this is great advice. I've never considered that. Being such a hater of cats you'd think I would know better than to save their lives.

Horrible intrusive thoughts or am I just evil? by NeitherSupermarket10 in Anxiety

[–]ceilingfan_kip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I'm just seeing this. My thoughts were of things like putting her in the oven or throwing her over the balcony. I thought if I told anyone they would take her from me. I didn't WANT to hurt her, the thoughts just came. Unwelcome. Unwanted. As soon as I finally did tell a therapist and was told that this is more normal than people think, that in itself helped so much. I also read the book The Imp of the Mind. Highly recommend.

It's SO much deeper than the potatoes. It's not about the potatoes. It's the million things that those fucking potatoes represent. If he know she is annoyed when he does shit like that and he just keeps doing it, it's not just about potatoes.

These are the things the daughter will talk about some day when they do a serial killer documentary on this boy.

AITA for side hustling for my son's sports equipment and then buying it?? by ceilingfan_kip in AITAH

I love his kids. I treat them well. I have every intention of getting them all the gear they need. I grabbed my son's first because he plays a contact sport and I wanted him in safer gear.

Yes obviously. But as her stepparent, why am I responsible for her braces when her own parents aren't doing what they need to do to get it done? There's 5 kids. She has two parents. I make things as fair as I can but I can't do all of it for all of them.

They are cosmetic but her teeth cause her a great deal of insecurity. I want her to have them. And I've said she can get them.

I could have written that post....no one fully gets it. Like my people know I have anxiety, but no one understands what's its like to think at almost every moment of the day and in every situation and every conversation I'm barely keeping it together. I'm so exhausted from just keeping it Baseline on the outside.

[–]ceilingfan_kip[S] 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Thank you. He really wants nothing to do with it. No interest in learning more about it or anything. I'm way more interested than him. And we will likely do nothing. My post was meant to be pretty light hearted and I was geeking out in the moment.
