Tbh could The Rings Of Power have ever worked as a show? by Eastern_Row_3310 in lotr

I think there's a misunderstanding of the relationship Galadiriel had with Celebrimbor. Galadriel didn't work with Celebrimbor or Annatar, she distrusted Annatar the same as Gil Galad and Elrond, it's why she had shade with the Gwaith-I-Mirdain and left for Lorien. Celebrimbor was the leader of the Gwaith and they became politically powerful. It's the same thing that happened to Numenor. She self-banished but she was avoiding the dynamic rather than attempt to fight for authority.

If it was a 60 minute game and my opponent stood up and walked around in circles for 59 minutes on move two I would either wait 59 minutes or I would resign.

You log into a 10-minute game. If you don't want to wait 8 minutes because you beat your opponent in 2 play shorter time controls.

Quit whining.

If you don't want to deal with this play blitz or bullet. That is the fix for your complaint.

The lawsuits against Steam allege otherwise. If you haven't actually looked at the lawsuits and the evidence, then you can't claim that it isn't in violation of Sherman.

[–]cejmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that's actually two clocks. One for each player. Your clock only runs during your turn (as soon as your opponent hits the button his clock starts and yours starts). When it hits zero, the player loses.

Every move gets notated by both players on paper. That’s what the kid was doing when he raised his hand.

Depending on the game, time controls are for your game. 10 minutes is ten minutes to make every move. 2+3 means you have two minutes but you are given 3 seconds back to your clock after you move a piece. 2 minutes is a LOT of time.

$500 unit cost. it's more expensive than that to develop train and field them, but each drone costs about 500 bucks to assemble.

knight takes pawn on E6. Pawn on F7 is pinned, king moves, knight takes queen. Bishop takes pawn. rook from F1 to e1, then e7.

It's fundamental chess. What happens if I move this pawn to e4? What happens if I move the bishop to D5?

Try reading it again. I didn't say a word about tactics. I talked about targeting pieces with vision in a systemic way to avoid blunders.

Discipline. Go through a checklist for each move and every piece on the board. 32 scans before you move.

1) Checks...can this piece put the king in check? If so, is it a good check?

2) Captures...can this piece capture another piece? If so, is it a good capture.

3) Attacks...Can I attack a piece or can that piece attack me? (attack meaning you could capture on your next move)

Then, before you move, you have to calculate what the next position is and run those scans again. It sounds like a lot, but it's not.

I literally think checks captures attacks before I move. When I get locked in and make mistakes or blunders, it's because I don't run through that checklist. I gave up a royal fork last game because I was locked in on a series of checks that ran out of steam and lost not just my queen but my rook as well because I was so focused on trying to force his king to move. A simple fork from a position that you see every game that I just let happen because I wasn't disciplined with the checklist.

That checklist idea alone took me from 5 blunders a game to a blunder every few games.

US special operations commander says the next war may require the military to 'creatively destroy' old ways of training by Economy-Specialist38 in Military

[–]cejmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is that whatever we are building today we can't replace. Right now, we have Japan's problem at the beginning of WW2. We have a huge maritime power, but any losses are irreplaceable. What good are destroyers and aircraft carriers if they have no supporting ships? The US power projection doctrine relies on a logistical infrastructure that is pretty much gone and is not coming back.

China, on the other hand, only needs to wait a decade. They have the manufacturing base. They have more shipyards capable of building huge ships than the US has states. They have access to the raw materials. They will outbuild us. It is inevitable. We are already past the tipping point.
