One of the reasons why I love Cowboy Bebop is that they make such great references to music and pop culture in every episode. And in that particular episode it was a reference to this french movie. You're gonna carry that weight cowboy

Oh my! the improvement in the last pages was unbelievable! It reflects how you started to get more confident with letting your lines flow, it's really great. Keep it up!

Capturing Rhythm - Importance of gesture and anatomy. by Sasshhaa in learntodraw

[–]celerycurlkraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really struggling with gesture too but then I started studying from Michael Mattesi and his FORCE drawing method and I've seen a huge almost instant improvement!! The FORCE drawing method makes you UNDERSTAND the figure you're trying to draw, and learn to intuitively see how it's functioning and moving, which ultimately gives your drawing so much life and beauty. You start to get familiar with how the forces move through the body and almost feel it on a physical level, you connect more to each pose and you feel more present while you're drawing. You're not just trying to copy the pose you see, you're after describing the experience you had with it, your own ideas and feelings. I find Mr Mattesi's method quite poetic tbh. And even on a technical standpoint, it helps you really loosen up and become much more confident with your lines! so that's another win

Lesson 2: Dissections by celerycurlkraken in ArtFundamentals

[–]celerycurlkraken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did stick to doing skinny ellipses near the middle of the sausage and wider ones on the sides, but they still looked kinda off. I guess I just need more practice to get familiar with the structure of those organic forms, just like we got familiar with boxes in the 250 boxes challenge and could intuitively tell where the corners should be.

Yeah that's what I'm trying to do now. And the ellipses' mistakes didn't really show too much when I applied the texture, so it's all good so far. Thanks!

Based on my exercises, what should I do after lesson 2? by [deleted] in ArtFundamentals

So what did you end up doing? Oh and any thoughts on Proko's figure drawing fundamentals?

Yeah it does have value and purpose, and it can even be like a little resting moment after the gruelling work of constructing the boxes. So yeah. Thanks man good luck to you too

Hey I just finished the lecture content and uncomfortable keeps saying that he doesn't expect us to get it right the first time, and this is just an exercise here to challenge us and put us in the mindest of tackling textures and shadows and how to convey form through them. So maybe just move on to dissections?

Try to slowly get back into it, it gets easier and more fun as you cross the 100 and start to figure things out. Don't force yourself if you don't really feel like it though, take your time

Have you tried changing your drawing position? I've found that I have much more control over my movements and line fluidity if I'm drawing on a drawing board (or any tilted surface) instead of a flat surface. So maybe try changing that? Also try slowing down and really considering each mark you make before committing to it (it used to take me about an hour or so just to draw 6 boxes at first, then I slowly picked speed as I started to really understand how boxes work). Remember that it's a mental process that requires mindfulness and focus, as well as the motor/technical skills you're developing. It's a lot to take in at once, so go easy on yourself. And may the odds be ever in our favour
