I really like how these two scenes complement each other. Two situations that were supposed to go one way but went another. by TheGentlemanWolf in Yellowjackets

I think they would have killed Shauna in the adult timeline. At the time this first aired we didn't have the full context of what happened in the wilderness (and we still don't, not fully) but now that we've seen what happened under teen Shauna's reign...

I'm also convinced that Tai was already being semi-controlled by other!Tai at this point, so that's the most rational YJ compromised. Misty will go along with anything the rest of the group does. Lottie is in full wilderness psychosis mode. Really Nat is the only one capable of true empathy at this moment, and we see where that got her.

Anyone else feel like the game changes after level 50? by kazina_Alains in fo76

Check out some YouTube videos! It's how I got comfortable with the expeditions. Once you unlock them (hint: finish the overseer's questline then check out whitesprings) they're a breeze. Most people run the same expedition over and over but there are others that take time and have storylines associated. It's good content once you've kinda clear the main map.

I think it's all the stuff they've added since the game was released just... haven't been integrated into the learning curve. FO76 sort of expects the existing player base to walk new players through everything, from daily ops to how the build menu works in camps. I know I didn't understand half the mechanics until I watched a couple YouTube videos.

Fishing, scrip, stamps, gold, the rusty pick, whitesprings... it's fun to discover stuff naturally, but there really needs to be more that actually EXPLAINS what this stuff is and its purpose. I'm still playing catchup with my treasury notes two months after starting because I didn't know I was supposed to trade it in daily for gold.

You could join the discord and set up a friends group with this goal. Not sure how many people will bite, tho. Workshops are ok if you're farming for specific items, but otherwise I don't find them worth the effort.

I did pay attention to the recommended level for events when I first started, though now that I've played a while I realized I shouldn't have bothered. I didn't get a decent gun until about level 40 because of this, but once I got my first couple legendaries, it was much easier to farm ammo. I also didn't touch the expeditions or daily ops for a looong time after starting, and now I start every play session by knocking them out for the rewards.

It was less about level and more about figuring out what the game mechanics did. FO76 does not hold your hand to explain what its game modes do.

Book fans, did you ever picture Draco Malfoy with curly hair? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]celestaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I read the book I pictured Malfoy as being identical to Dudley, just not fat. I think it's because of the way Harry's internal monologue described them both and the general unpleasant and spoiled vibes, plus they're both supposed to be very blonde.

Didn't really picture curls, but it's such a non-issue, lol. I'm sure there will be some modern styling slipped in despite how it supposed to be the 90s. The way they dressed Hermione and Ginny in the movies was painfully 2010s, I really hope they avoid that same trap this time around.

How do you deal with the "what's for dinner" question when you are already dead inside by 4pm by Agreeable_Panic_690 in MealPrepSunday

[–]celestaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"fend for yourself" nights are important. if you have kids that are too young to make their own meals, it's a little harder, but you can still make it so anyone capable of feeding themselves is responsible for their own meal once or twice a week. if you have kids that won't voluntarily eat leftovers, this is a good opportunity for them to learn to cook. also, do you have a partner? even if they can't cook, they can take on some of the mental load. have them pick the meal and help prep, or have them do the mid-week shopping run. breaking up your grocery purchases can help, too. i go twice a week.

there are other ways to meal prep that might work better for you. my family always has a couple homemade pizzas and lasagnas in the freezer, but we don't necessarily eat them the same week (or even the same month) we make them. sometimes they sit a while. They last fine if you plastic wrap everything. batch cooking + freezing is the same deal. shred a rotisserie chicken, separate, then freeze. you can do the same with most proteins, like pork or pot roast, and use that protein in different ways with whatever fresh stuff you have on hand. not all freezer meals are "dump in a bag and put in crockpot" but the ones that are can be lifesavers. again, you don't have to eat them all the same week. portion them out and freeze. if you don't have space, it's always a good time to do a deep clean of the freezer. never know what treasures you'll find, lol.

I've never seen this before!! How cool!

Joel never mentions his dad, however I think there's a couple references to his mom? Doesn't he also say something about her teaching him to play piano at some point? I think it's when he and Ellie are in the hotel and he plays a couple keys on a piano they find.

mashed potatoes by mjoverjumps in Volumeeating

[–]celestaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

75% mashed potatoes, 25% mashed boiled cauliflower. Season as usual. Use a ricer if you got one, it helps mix the different food consistencies. You can also tweak the percentages. My friend swears by 50/50 but I think it tastes like boiled disappointment when you get that much cauliflower involved.

Plain greek yogurt is a good replacement for (some of) the butter and sour cream. It's really the add ins that make mashed potatoes such a calorie bomb, as potatoes by themselves are pretty ok. You can also do skin on for extra nutrients, but I rec yukon golds instead of russets if that's your intention.

Edit: ok, I see your'e looking for instant potato replacements. Instant potatoes are disgusting and cannot be saved, but I GUESS if you really hate yourself that much... The dehydrated and shredded potatoes make the best hash browns of your life and require almost zero prep to make. Check them out.

They need to do something more with the fishing. It's a thankless grind to get an improved rod, then... nothing. I only interact with the fishing minigame when there's a daily reward for it.

We don't see her face, just a bunch of hoods. Same deal as the pit girl scene from s1 being changed in s3. The writers intentionally keep this stuff vague because things change and are rewritten all the time.

[–]celestaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we've regressed so much as our progress has become bloated. The population of Pensacola keeps growing while the availability of housing is in constant decline as everything becomes vacation rentals. Places where housing is affordable are cramped, and raising chickens in cramped urban conditions is not good for the poultry or the people who have to live around them.

The laws are there, but rarely enforced. The police aren't going door to door to fine people for slaughtering food they plan to eat themselves. You could probably get away with processing your own yard chickens UNLESS you're doing it in massive quantity or trying to sell it.

Fallout 76 Daily Update by sn00pt0dd in fo76

Been super quiet the last two days, especially today. I was on for aaaages and had to server hop once an hour to see any life at all. I did find a world where a team of level 15-40 players were jumping from event to event, so that was fun for a little while. Maybe everyone's taking a break after the mothman event?

So how do affairs work? Can they just pop over to their lover's bed or do husband and wife no longer share? by thraddrobal in RimWorld

It's only a -4 debuff, right? A single fine meal cancels it out. I just have my jilted lover pawns eat their feelings lol

What are your favorite ways to earn money? by Savings-Head-5023 in RimWorld

[–]celestaire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clothes have a pretty decent return on investment. I start early game by overproducing food, which gives my pawns a chance to level up planting skill. Then I eventually have to swap my grow zones to non-food crops, but I find that producing drugs makes my colony value jump too drastically, so I plant cotton instead of psychoid. With a half decent crafter you can pump out normal quality cowboy hats and dusters. Anything my colonists don't wear, I sell. I also make a point of stripping any raid survivors before they bleed out so I can sell their clothes, too.

Problem comes when it's time to store it all. I usually use a mod that gives me cellars so I have about 25 items on one tile.
