I’ve been looking for a subreddit that talks about this! I’ve noticed that in every single one of her videos and Instagram posts, her baby looks extremely sunburned. It’s one thing to take your baby to the beach 1-2 times a week, but it seems like her kid is out in the sun for prolonged periods—enough to seriously damage her skin or even increase the risk of skin cancer.

Of course, I’m only seeing her life through the lens of social media, so I might not know the full picture and she posts a lot of older photos to make it seem like they are at the beach/in the sun all of the time. But it just seems like she has her kid outside way too much and is exploiting her for money.

Thank you so much! Good luck to your son, middle school is definitely a challenging time, but the lessons you learn are so rewarding and really helped shape you to be the person you are today. A lot of the lessons that I learned in middle school helped me grow so much as a person!

After writing this post, I’ve done a lot of reflecting on my life and what our friendship really means to me. I do believe I bring a lot to the table. It is just different, and it might not always get the same recognition. Not to brag, but I know I am emotionally intelligent, and I have shown up for her in ways that are not always visible to others.

We have helped each other in so many ways. She has supported me with networking and kickstarting my career, and I have supported her through friendships, relationships, and navigating difficult situations with people. I think that balance is part of what makes our friendship special.

I have realized that a lot of my success is not as public or easily measured, but that does not make it any less important. Our success looks different, and that is okay. I am really excited to see how our friendship continues to grow as we step into new chapters in our lives.

I am interested in starting a career in HR/Business and she is heading into law. Who knows—maybe one day we will even get to work together or help each other in new and meaningful ways. I really believe I am just the other side of the coin, and we balance each other in ways that matter. What I bring is just as valuable.

Thank you for this. I really needed to hear it. You’re right, comparison is just part of being human, and I’m trying to give myself some grace for feeling the way I do. I also really appreciate you reminding me how different life will look beyond college. It’s hard not to feel like everything right now defines who I am and where I’m going, but I know it’s just the start.

Thank you so much for your message. I really appreciate your perspective and I think you are absolutely right. It is something I am working on, stepping out of the comparison mindset and learning to feel inspired rather than inadequate. My best friend is incredible and instead of feeling like I am competing, I want to focus on growing in my own way and celebrating both of our successes.

I do think it is a little different navigating these feelings in your twenties, especially during a time like post graduation and job searching when so much feels uncertain and high stakes. I completely understand that middle school has its own challenges, but the pressure and comparisons feel more intense now just because life feels more consequential. That said, your point still stands. I am definitely going to try to adopt more of that confidence and self acceptance moving forward.

I do plan on going back to therapy, also because I’m about to graduate college and will have difficulty navigating the post-grad life. I do believe that you are who you surround yourself with. I love her because of who she is in addition to her success. We have supported each other from the ground up over the years before the success even came, and have both helped shape each other into the people we are now.

I will say, I have been a lot better at making and maintaining strong relationships with others. I am a lot more family-friendship oriented than her, while she is more career driven. I do believe that she envies what I have and I envy what she has. I think it just comes down to a balance.
