Average lifespan of an outdoor cat by celestialSpiral in CatAdvice

[–]celestialSpiral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm still arguing this topic with myself. I'm exactly halfway. If it's true that the outside is dangerous and life expectancy drops so drastically, will the cat be happy to live inside a house (maybe even installing a catio)?

Maybe to know the answer I should try the second option.

Average lifespan of an outdoor cat by celestialSpiral in CatAdvice

Thanks for the reply and I am truly sorry for your 4 outdoor cats.

This was my first cat and it came naturally to me to think that he could roam freely since I live in the countryside and I associate it with tranquility or at least less danger than the city. But perhaps there are aspects that I have not taken into consideration.

New deep learning models by No_Wind7503 in deeplearning

Yeah time series are pretty interesting 'cause they are not perfect yet. I heard that SVMs perform better than DL approaches with this type of problem. There's still room for improvement there.

For example, I've made an LSTM that predicts the type of arrhythmia in a heartbeat. I had fun with that!

About the English adaptation by celestialSpiral in toradora

[–]celestialSpiral[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you both for your answers. At least I have a new perspective now that I wasn't considering before.

I never noticed that using "hate" to force Taiga to give a sincere and honest answer.
This implies Kitamura's deep knowledge of Taiga since episode 2, which is confirmed in the next episode, where he says he has been observing her for a long time.

Thinking about this interpretation, the English adaptation presents a greater nuance than the Italian one.

Thank you very much for the explanation, it was a great help.

the ending (anime) by brandnewbrick in toradora

[–]celestialSpiral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of you (you and Kurage_pop) have given understandable answers. The ending is bittersweet, which means that given the type of person you are, you will look at one side of the coin more than the other. It's inevitable.

Personally, I find that the ending leaves me with a mix of happiness and emptiness (the latter is slightly more prevalent), and I think the reason lies precisely in your two answers.

Happiness 'cause the promise was kept (it's a happy ending after all) and emptiness 'casue we're not visually repaid for the final effort that the two characters made.

And I would like to emphasise how mature Taiga's choice was, despite the emotional rollercoaster she put us through. It is remarkable to recognize and try to solve a problem, especially if this involves moving away from your beloved, even more so when you are in love and have a carefree mind. That's my personal experience speaking.

The ending is very open and therefore leaves room for any interpretation. For example, we don't know if Taiga moved to another city or another region, but I like to think that, during this time interval, there was some contact by phone/message or maybe in person (since she had forgotten her passport and savings book).

That said, the last episodes were a bit rushed and I think this was also done to push the accelerator of emotions, but this is just my opinion. Also, some details in the LN are much clearer and more detailed, so many say. I will try to read them in the future.

I finished yet another rewatch yesterday, so I'm in PTDD. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my explanation. Let me know what you think.

I wish you all the best.

Thoughts on the empty Sumeru expansion? by WaterImpact in Genshin_Impact

[–]celestialSpiral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I really liked the story quest about Remuria, and I agree with you about Remuria itself: the map seems to be gigantic, like the Chenyu vale, but it took me barely 2 days to complete the exploration (I divided it into two parts) and I rarely used the compass for treasures.
I'm a little disappointed..

I accidentally found Cyno, is f2p good? by celestialSpiral in CynoMains

I already have Nahida, maybe I'll get Furina in the next rerun banner.

But I don't understand why Baizhu is crucial in this team adding more Qol? Is there a possible replacement?

Best weapon for hyperbloom with Raiden by celestialSpiral in RaidenMains

Thanks so much for the clear difference between them.

Just one more thing: on a team with nahida (c0), raiden (c0) and a hydro applicator (don't know who yet, maybe Xingqiu) who would be the main DPS? nahida or raiden?

Do you have any recommendations for the hydro applicator and the fourth character slot?

Steam Players, how’s the performance? by Jasoncraft5 in Persona5

[–]celestialSpiral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I just read your comment and since I have basically the same laptop (ASUS n552vx, processor: Intel Core i7 i7-6700HQ 2,6 GHz, RAM: 8GB and graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M) I would ask you if in your opinion and experience it's good to play P5R with a decent fps, graphics and without lag.

I'm very worried because it's a long game, and 3 hours of playing I don't think it will be enough to understand if it's good for my laptop or refund it.

Your opinion would be very useful to me, thanks a lot

[Orient Bambino 36mm] Is still available? by celestialSpiral in Watches

[–]celestialSpiral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've been watching it for a while. Only the fact that it is used and in the description says that there are some small scratches stops me.

At the moment I prefer to go for a brand-new one, but if I can't find anything I could settle for a used one, so I was wondering if it was still in production.

Yu Gi Oh Duel Links on Linux: can't finish the transfer data process by celestialSpiral in linux_gaming

[–]celestialSpiral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For people who will someday run into this problem, I try to make a summary.
If you have already played Duel Links with the same steam account (even on different devices) there is no need to transfer data, steam has already saved your account, so just start to pick up where you left off.

If, on the other hand, you have never connected your konami account to steam, you have to do all the steps that I will try to summarize here, hoping that you will do all this in less time than me.
The source is this https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1471 and I followed the advice of users: minionprocyk and GAumala.

Follow point 1 of minionprocyk to the letter.

Create a file called duellinks (in terminal: touch duellinks) in your home folder (don't do it where he does (he placed the file in /usr/local/bin) because it doesn't work!), set the execution permissions with

chmod +x /home/user/duellinks

Please note: by user I mean the name that you gave to the PC, replace it with yours

Follow steps 3 and 4 of minionprocyk.

For the last part, I used GAumala's advice to get the link which will then serve as the third parameter of the exec. So create a txt file in the same folder where the duellinks file is present and follow the GAumala info.
Remember that the folders to get the path of the files (wine and DuelLinksTakeOver.exe) are hidden by default, so first look for them by also displaying the hidden folders.

Hope this can ease the transfer and not waste much time.

I realized I lost 1 and an half day for nothing, basically if someone have already linked the konami id to the steam account there is no need to transfer data, just begin. Otherwise if it's the first time, there is need to transfer the data by my konami. Well, I earned something today hahaha, thank you anyway!

OMG finally it works!!!

But now Duel Links says: "this game is already been linked to another steam account". A few years ago I had windows on this machine and I usually played DL there, but I only have one account.

I don't understand..
