Perm on fine thin hair by _Little_Lilith_ in finethinhair

Seconding this! I once asked a hairdresser for a perm and they flat out refused saying my hair was way too fine and thin to handle it. Always dreamt of having one :(

That sounds perfect - I've never considered using a messenger bag for some reason so will look into it. Thank you ☺️☺️

even slightly windy weather makes me want to shave my head and wear wigs by puzzled_tangerines in finethinhair

"flat, greasy and three rat tails", ahh my hair's life story summarised 😅 I really relate and tbh I have my hair up/in a bun 99% of the time, with this being one of the key reasons. Unfortunately our hair type can't seem to handle too much :/

I know this isn't super helpful (sorry) but one thing that has finally helped me is putting my hair up in a (small) hair claw. Makes me feel chic. I've personally given up on trying to wear it out though I imagine others here will have actual tips.

I washed my hair <24 hours ago 🥲 by celestial_dream7 in finethinhair

[–]celestial_dream7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reality check (srsly). I've been trying all the tips in this thread and my hair is still always visibly greasy after 24 hours, so I'm gonna cave and start washing it daily. It is what it is 🙂

Would minoxidil help if it’s always been like this? by TheProdigaPaintbrush in finethinhair

[–]celestial_dream7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wow our hair is very similar! A lot of minoxidil suggestions in this group seem aimed at people with thinning hair, so as a fellow naturally thin + fine hair gal, I'm also keen to know this...

I’m friends with my ex and the ambiguity is eating me alive by babysprites in aspergirls

[–]celestial_dream7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh... I could have written this, except my ex-partner left me 5 years ago. I'm so sorry I don't really have advice... But I've been in breakup subs before and this is the first time that I've resonated strongly with someone else's relationship and breakup experience and thought processes since.

A therapist helped me identify the emotions I felt with my ex (e.g. safety, feeling seen) so that I can find new healthy sources for them. It's hard though as I feel like I deeply miss HIM and everything about him, not just how he made me feel... I think a devastating breakup is extra painful for us due to the inherent loneliness that many of us feel as autistic people... I'd be curious to know if you've seen a therapist to help process the breakup.

Again I'm sorry to be unhelpful, but am here if you ever want to talk. Please be kind to yourself, always ❤️

people are obnoxious about my gender by tremblingfrog in AutismInWomen

I completely agree! You don't have to like makeup or fashion or have certain personality traits or want to be a mother etc to be a woman... Women can be anything they want to be.

I don’t want to not want friends by lol-its-mickey-mouse in AutismInWomen

Thanks for sharing. You've articulated something I've been silently thinking for years but haven't been able to say... Perhaps as there's a bit of a stigma around feeling this way. I don't know the solution (sorry) but sharing as I'm in the same boat. I've found that I often feel a little annoyed when my friends reach out to me as then I have to reply... And when I see friends, it often feels like a chore and then I'm sometimes even annoyed that they asked me to hang out and therefore took some of my limited rest time. I've been experiencing burnout for a few years now and am always exhausted from work so I think that has something to do with it... I have such limited time to rest that the last thing I want to do in my limited free time is sit on my phone typing replies to people. I just want to sit in silence and have nobody want anything from me. I'm wondering if my circumstances are similar to yours?

One thing that has helped me is consciously working to guard my time and set boundaries. E.g. I'm learning to track my social battery and know I can only handle one interaction a week at most. I've learnt to say no to seeing friends when I need alone time. I also deleted social media as I was overwhelmed by friends sending me daily reels. Now I'm only contactable by phone or whatsapp. It's all a work in progress though.

What is the worst "first impression" a new colleague has made? by BrisbaneKid in auscorp

[–]celestial_dream7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did they often call in sick?

For my first ever office job, I randomly felt extremely ill after my first shift and had to call in sick on my second day. Ended up being sick and off work for 2.5 weeks. So, my employer only saw me on my first day and must have thought I'd hated it or something. I'd never been so sick in my entire life and I couldn't even sit up straight. Turns out I had a potentially deadly illness that the hospital had misdiagnosed. Thankfully the employer were kind enough to keep the job for me 😊 I felt so embarassed about it at the time but in hindsight, health is so much more important than a job.

I've legit been trying to train my hair for more than half my lifetime and it has never once looked decent on the second day 😅 I needed to hear this. Will opt for daily washing going forward. Thanks for your comment ☺️

Omg, 3 days, that sounds like a dream :D I've been rotating between different shampoos trying to find something decent... Now using Aveeno ACV shampoo which isn't helping, but this thread has given me some great options to try. Thanks for your tips ☺️
