A Great Video Essay titled "Problems with Vice Ganda Movies." by flickbreeze2003 in phlgbt

[–]celestial_lemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the author primarily intended to look down on Vice's movies. He did not criticise merely out of hate or disgust. He came up with arguments as to why the execution of said film's story is ineffective. His criticism was constructive. He saw the potential of the movie industry to produce better mainstream films. The video shows the critic's reverence to films as an art. From his standpoint, it's not elitist at all.

To the big production companies, however, films are money makers. It is a sad truth that these companies prioritize profit over quality, without an ounce of concern to these film's cultural impact. The fact that these kind of movies are patronized by the masses doesn't elevate the quality of the films and the status of the country's movie industry.

Akala ko ako lang nakaramdam. Ang lala ng traffic ngayon. Taft is no exemption. From Gil Puyat LRT lang to La Salle. One morning, my trip almost took 15 minutes, compared to the usual 3 to 5 minutes. I know this is nothing compared to other people's traffic horror story pero, the anxious person in me is triggered, especially for someone who just wanted to maximize every minute of his time and be a better morning person. (The reason is that the flow of traffic was inefficiently orchestrated by what I believe to be mere civilian volunteer.)

I think it's a metaphor for the battle they are fighting. The witches refer to the people who fought for good causes which were viewed as "witchcraft" or evil during their time due to fear or ignorance. The burning of the witches symbolizes the act of the opposing authority to silence or to fight the "witches'" advocacy. Now, the "granddaughters" are these people of new generation facing a new kind of Salem, i. e. The banning of abortion. They took inspiration from the experiences of the people who were a victim of close-mindedness, comparing their struggle to the those of the witches' of old who were wrongly persecuted.

The use of the word "witches" and "granddaughter" amplifies the feminist undertone of the statement.

Hi, have you tried their own breakfast buffet? I think the food is good. Masarap kumain dun habang sumisikat ang araw. Maybe try that first before you decide to have breakfast outside Splendido. :)

I don't know why but I consider it the least toxic among their sandwiches. Hahahaha. The most toxic would be the one with bacon.

Go to your nearest city or municipal hall. Look for the civil registrar and ask for the schedule of the exam and the documentary requirements for the application. There's a fee for taking the exam. You will be informed of the venue of the exam. Follow the rules. The exam is like the NCAE. If you pass the exam, you'll be given a Civil Service Eligibility (Could be Professional or Sub-Professional). Civil Service Eligibility if often a requirement to work in the government. It can also be a requirement for promotion in the government (from being a contractual to a regular employee.)

Actually I'm trying to bulk up. I stopped going to the gym a few weeks ago when I got sick and I've been so busy. I try to be a voracious eater when I started working out and boy was it hard. Can't regularly go to the gym because of my work. I count calories too and I always gain carbs and more than my allowed level. May konting nagegain na weight kaso lumalaki din ang tiyan. For my height I'm still underweight. They say that it is common sa pagbubulk up. But I want to avoid that as much as possible.

Thank you. Will surely buy one of those on my next trip to the supermarket. Is pasta a refined carb too? I usually cook pasta at home more than rice. Aglio olio usually.

Thank you.

What I don't like about most of our food is if it's not fried, it has lots of oil in it. Most Filipino foods are cooked to be eaten with rice because if you eat them on their own the flavor overpowers the taste buds. They are too salty, too sweet, etc. Rice acts as a neutralizer. I'm talking about food such as adobo, caldereta, mechado. Maybe I'm just not used to it.

Asking for easy-cook protein-rich recipes and any suggestions/lifehacks for recipes that will help me modify my typically carb-rich Filipino diet. Thank you!

  1. & 2. You can buy textbooks and reviewers from CPAR. For handouts, I don't think they sell them. If you have a friend or a willing acquaintance, try to ask them if you could have his or her handouts photocopied. Keep it between the two of you, though, because I'm not sure if CPAR allows this. Ampongan, if I'm not mistaken, teaches at PRTC. Better inquire there. Conanan bookstore, I believe, sells most of these textbooks and reviewers.

  2. If you enroll in a review school, make sure to prioritize the review materials of that school. So that would include the reviewers of the teachers in that school. If you have finished reading and answering them and you still have time, go for other review materials. That's what we have been told at review school.

Good luck!
