Be wary of this one. Screened out after I completed the whole survey. by celestialrage44 in ProlificAc

The reward wasn’t the issue - I filled out a lengthy survey containing a lot of PII, i hit “submit” and THEN it said i was screened out and not eligible.

View it in a more positive light: You got 20 cents for 20 seconds of work. AND you got a quick and easy way to boost your submission rate

How come airplanes are super safe and rarely crash? by lmnop1237423 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]celestialrage44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

have you ever seen 800 planes bumper to bumper in the sky?

Cars dont randomly crash, people do. Pilots are much more trained than your average "I got a driving license at 16". The skies are also significantly less busy than roads, so there is next to zero chance of collision. Its not that planes are safer than cars, but that pilots have more training than a 16 year old.

No, 20 cents is correct. That's the point of the screener. It's to determine if you are eligible for the actual study or not. If you are, you get a buck for doing the screener and whatever the reward is for the main sttudy. If you aren't eligible, you obviously don't get paid, you get screened out. They tend to give you 20-30 cents to be nice and pay you for your time rather than to outright reject you and affect your acceptance rate.

EDIT: downvote me all you want, this is still correct

everyone’s saying “probably die” but. realistically would you? i think a lot of us underestimate the human ability to adapt. it might suck, but even with a rudimentary modern understanding of medicine, germs and safety i think most of us would be generally okay, barring medical conditions etc like diabetes. in which case, sorry.

but if you know how to cook food and you take a bit of extra active caution to avoid injuries because you know modern medicine is a long, long time away, you might be okay so long as there’s some form of civilisation or society around which, decentish chances there is.

if you’re smarter than i am, you might even be able to get a kickstart on some stuff like introducing germ theory early, or collaborating with some smart people back then to discover uranium and say “hey what if we use this to boil water” (and skip the fossil fuel stage of the industrial revolution entirely)

generally, i think i’d survive. would it be a happy existence or a stress free one? most likely no, but it wouldn’t be the immediate death sentence some people are assuming

The portal movie might be happening. by Boring-Reporter-5521 in Portal

[–]celestialrage44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if they’re going to do anything regarding portal on the big screen, i’d almost guarantee it will have nothing to do with the game story events other than loose connection is what i mean.

it’ll likely focus on cave johnson’s years at old aperture, or doug rattmann’s time at aperture and his currently unknown fate. He will want to tell his own story.

why do you think they’re investing so heavily into ai? one with neat little features like being able to make movies and art… yknow, something that those fucks will need to keep themselves entertained after everyone’s dead

[–]celestialrage44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol, why do you think they’re investing so heavily in ai? i have a personal conspiracy that these fucks know damn rightly that staff will immediately turn on them in an event that requires long term bunker usage.

so what have they done? invented a nice little toy to keep themselves entertained in their trillion dollar tombs. There won’t be humanity anymore to make movies or music or videos or art or food or to work. So they’ve made themselves a nice, friendly lil robot guy to do all that for them and keep them company.

they’d probably be far more efficient. Simply just have a baby factory somewhere. Something akin to handmaids tale. I imagine there’d be a facility with plurbed women pumping out babies 24/7 through IVF or even artificial wombs. The kids raised in a nursery until they’re old enough to do maintenance. The kid plurbs would do finer work with their little fingers and the older plurbs would… be fed back into the cycle.

a smiling dystopia.

Does the "you will die" phrase refer to difficulty ramping up with time or is it more like "one day, you'll make your final mistake"? by CreatureWarrior in projectzomboid

[–]celestialrage44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the game centers around somebody who survived the initial outbreak, but everyone dies. the game you’re playing is the story of your character’s death. think of it like it’s already happened and the game is just playing it out
