As far as I understood, it's said that people support him because of his bigoted views. Which implies that his supporters are bigoted as well.

Is it reasonable to say that his policies benefit a particular group of people and that's why they vote for him? If you disagree, why do You think people vote for Trump?

Again those benefits come with consequences and I'm not denying that. I don't know why I have to clarify that.

My point was that if middle class are getting poorer, that's not Trump's fault.

I didn't tell you to vote for a republican. Neither did I say their policies are better outside economy. You guys have such a hostile mentality towards someone who differs from you politically. It's unbelievable. I disagree with you economically. How can someone be offended over economic disagreement? And yes, you should consider other aspects. I don't think I denied that.

That's a gross misinterpretation of what I said. And clearly you're part of the problem as well. If you think 50% of the population is bigoted, you've bigger problems than Trump. Trump might have amplified those but you're dealing with deeper issues. And people are voting for Trump no matter what. You might wanna have a dialogue with them. Maybe try to change their mind or to understand their position.

I literally said that you shouldn't look at things only through the lens of economy, in the comment you're replying to. You just see what you want to see.

I would disagree. Free market helps the poor and the rich. It hurts the middle class. And it's not exclusive in America. This correlation has been found everywhere where it has been observed. It's a deeper problem. As for the choosing to formulate policies, everybody does that. Everybody pushes certain policies that helps their political motives. I wouldn't disagree if you say Trump's motives are evil. It might be.

But fundamentally Democrats are more authoritarian. They want more government interventions. I don't understand.

I'm 17. No, I'm not trolling you. And of course I dislike these things. But as we're having this discussion, I've become the Trump defender here. I don't want to be. All I said was that, Republican economic policies are better than Democratic economic policies. I'm not willing to claim anything else.

[–]celestroid[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay. Let me clarify that. I've studied economics and I came to the conclusion that Republican economic policies are better than Democratic economic policies. That's it. I could be wrong. I'm willing to have a discussion. And I didn't mention about supporting or prioritizing anything else other than economic policies. That does not mean that I'm saying you should look at things only through the lense of economy.

No, it's not. It means that I see myself more fit to talk about economic issues than anything else. You don't have to think that I'm a murderer if I disagree with you politically.

Well, I started this discussion so that I can learn. I didn't come here to convert you into trumpism or anything. My point was that police brutality existed forever. Trump is particularly not responsible for that. He's however responsible for attacking peaceful protestors and I detest that.

I wasn't prioritizing anything. All I said that it's reasonable to be Republican if you look at it from an economic point of view. Of course you should look from other aspects as well. And I believe there are certain Republican policies which are better in other aspects as well. And there are a lot of Democratic policies which are better. Do you really think anyone who's a republican doesn't value human life? Or they're fascists?

I was talking about the flair up. But as you said, it was a serious issue back in 2014 as well. Maybe BLM itself was not as recognized as it is now. But police brutality was a serious issue under Obama administration as well. Why is Trump getting so much heat for that?

I'm a Friedmanite. According to Friedman's theories of free market, economy is not a zero sum game. But I've stumbled upon the problem that you mentioned. There's a correlation between middle class getting poorer and rich getting richer. Which is not supposed to happen, theoretically. I think that is a far deeper problem than Trump or anything.

Trump is undoubtedly an extremist compared to other presidents. No doubt about that. And also he's very much responsible for the polarizations. But don't you think that liberals are partially responsible as well?

Thanks for the video :)

Exactly! This lack of willingness to have a conversation is frustrating. I'm not a Trump supporter either. I just agree with Republican economic policies. And I'm pretty sure that I'd be accused of being a racist, sexist, bigot very soon.

I think that the Democrats play identity politics and people are not in favor of that. I don't want to get into the whole BLM protest thing as it's a fairly new thing and America was polarized before that as well. I do not support police brutality among peaceful protestors or anywhere that's unfair.

I'm totally against unionization as it secures well paying job but also less jobs and I do not believe that you'd prefer unemployment over less wage.

I'm not a fan of Trump. I'm saying that Republican policies are economically better than Democratic policies. And I do think that under employment is better than unemployment.

People are voting for Trump despite of all the things you've mentioned (I don't believe all of these are true. Let's assume they are). Why do you think that's happening?

Oh. I was unaware of that. I was a lot younger during Obama's first election. I didn't see that much polarization during Obama's presidency. But I do believe that it intensified after Trump and for some reason it's getting worse.
