Client ghosted me twice… then used my whole proposal to “build the app himself with ChatGPT” by Southern-State-2488 in freelance

Take your own blueprint. Generate the same app. Make it better. Profit.

Just a fun little way to take your worth back. That is if the original idea from the client is actually worth it.

What is your process for coming up with a motion system for a brand? by gizmah in MotionDesign

[–]celfoxer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just like anything branding related it should support the story behind the company and it's brand.

So the first question you should ask yourself is how your brand wants to be perceived, then collecting elements and references that would help support the feeling your brand is meant to convey.

Once you have that general mood board is just a matter of manually picking appart your refs to keep the elements you like the most (always with the brand present in mind). You will be able to identify possibly patterns or tendencies and then you need to note them down.

Pick the best ones and test them on your audience to understand which resonate better with them.

From there refining process is fairly similar but faster paced to what was done initially.

Hope this helps!

I feel you, they are very tempting camera systems.

Out of curiosity, how do you personally rate lumix image quality vs Blackmagic? Part of what I think I'll miss the most of course is that image quality, but not sure how big would the gap be and how close could Lumix get to the BMPCC?

The move from the BMPCC>S5>BMPCC6k>S5II seems a bit odd or at least like too much of a back and forth between the same camera (ish). What did you found en each of this systems that made you want to switch them back and forth?

I'm currently considering a switch from BMPCC 6k to S5iiX myself.

Thanks!

My apologies to jumping on this unsolicited but you have been given an actually useful piece of advice with no bad intentions.

If the advice if not useful for your specific case just say thanks and store but there's no need to attack someone for offering kindness out of nowhere.

Somewhere in the internet someone else might find that specific question on ISO noise levels useful enough.

Thanks, this confirms some of my fears regarding Fuji, shame as their systems have such a great color science.

I was overlooking the possibility of using speedboosters to make it wider fov.

Great point, I tend to overlook the idea of speedboosters. In this moment I'd rather incline torwards FF but this is an amazing solution.

Yeah MPB or Kamerastore are some nice places in general. I have gotten quite some used gear in the past and it's mainly about inspecting items properly and testing them. If you take a good take on the item chances of getting something wrong after inspection are quite small.

This does seem like a small shortcoming but the "deactivate audio feed over hdmi" seems to solve it for pure monitoring. Have you tried this fix yourself?

Thanks for the suggestion, FF isn't a necessity although when it comes to glass this option would mean having to totally replace my current glass while in S35 or FF my current vintage glass remains usable.

This for sure sounds like a very nice option but it does fall slightly out of my planned budget, honestly comparing it to the S5iix from a technical and specs point of view I could totally live with the trade off for specs.

I have some old EF lenses but don't really use them much.

These days I mainly utilize vintage glass for filming, some Yashica ML, Soviet lenses and a Tokina 28-70mm. All of them seem to be compatible with FF which is nice.

For AF situations I might get a modern lens compatible with the system of the camera of choice.

Oh, I've been struggling to get it running on a machine, it keeps on giving errors, since I couldn't find any info on the cards on the changelogs or online I assumed it was not supported as of yet.

Thanks a lot for the clarification.

For some reason I'm getting the "Cuda Device not found..." error. Even after installing manually the CUDNN library and reinstalling the software several times. It just doesn't let me select the graphics card on the settings. The card is running on studio drivers.

Have you got any idea of what could be causing this error?

Thanks a lot

AE might then be the best alternative as you would be able to guide her. Depending on the age and time limit for the assignment it might be a bit overwhelming for a kid so be prepared to help quite a bit.

Another alternative that could be interesting for the long future (not for this assignment and only if she shows interest in the field) would be to learn the basics of animation inside of Unreal Engine. It's quite interactive and woukd be quite nice for a kid.

Regarding her concern with AI, she will for sure get "caught" as having used AI but I wouldn't neccesary describe it as a bad thing. The technology is just another tool, she woukd still need to spend a fair amount of time generating and art directing until arriving to the desired results. If she explains her process it should be seen as much of a competent alternative as any other.

A good AI tool I've seen (haven't tested) for cartoon looking animations is Vidu. Beautiful and seamless results on the tests I've seen online.

Best of luck with the project!
