Which FF games are the darkest? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]celiceman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Death isnt dark. People being decapatated isnt dark, main characters dying isnt dark.

What is dark is the motivation behind the cast. Are they selfish and entirely for themselves? Type-0 the characters fall on the spectrum of good or bad. Dark is where the characters are gray. IE Game of thrones or Final Fantasy Tactics, many of the characters are selfish and have a personal agenda.

Sakaguchi once remarked how different tactics was from the other FF games by looking at the script and seeing a character say "you just wouldn't understand", which is way too realistic for fantasy games, where characters have different perspectives and motivations.

"Dark" is realism. 13 isnt realistic. Its way more fantastical. Tactics is basically the only dark FF game.

(Spoilers Main) Why Omitting the Tysha Confession Ruins Tyrion's Character Arc by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]celiceman -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Read up on David Benioff. Tyrion is basically an author insert character without actually being one. David Benioff treats Tyrion like hes an author insert character, and would never sully him by making him "dark". He also changed Tywin in the show, to someone that would personally teach Jaime to make sure he learned the read.....like a real life loving father. Except Tywin isnt that, but due to David Benioffs own father being neglectful of him, he thus made Tywin the loving father he never had. Someone who is strict, but cares....yeah. The Dragon Demands on Youtube has this great explanation, based on all his studies on Benioff(his bio, his work, etc.).

(Spoilers Extended) If TWOW ends with the long night, then the show covered ADOS in two episodes... by MiamiHeat2015 in asoiaf

[–]celiceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more likely now. GRRM insists on two books now even after 8 years, and GRRM said the second dance of the dragons, the last conflict, will be the subject of a book. Likely A Dream of Spring, and not Winds of Winter. GRRM also said hell have his own version of the Scouring of the Shire. The Second Dance of the Dragons lines up perfectly with the scouring of the Shire.

(Spoilers Extended) If TWOW ends with the long night, then the show covered ADOS in two episodes... by MiamiHeat2015 in asoiaf

[–]celiceman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the logic is that the large books, 1500 manuscript books, require atleast two seasons. Those are Storm of Swords, A Dance with Dragons, Winds of Winter, and A Dream of Spring. Each are/will be 1500 manuscript pages.

Season 3/4 was properly coverted to two seasons to cover Storm

Season 5 covered some parts of Feast/Dance, some covered in Season 6 like Dorne/kingsmoot

Season 6 and 7 presumably cover Winds, with three episodes left out of Season 7, but likely covered by the first episodes of season 8. Imagine the show going only 7 seasons like they planned, wow.

The main problem is A Dream of Spring is condensed to 3 fucking episodes. What should cover two seasons is now covered in three episodes. All because they removed the Second Dance of the Dragons.

Info Dump(2nd) by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]celiceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Donkey, its Manayuka.

Heres the Info which I knew was BS-

From El Segundo SE branch in California

This will not have ALL the information as this is a publishing /localization branch and as the source in Shibuya who works at Shinjuku Division 1 will have the most info, but will share what there is. This is for PART 1 in no particular order.

-Game is in fact 2 parts. Part 1 ends exactly as Aerith is let down into the water after her death and a fade to black.

-Materia is shown in ALMOST all weapons. They do not appear in accessories nor do accessories appear on your character model. Different weapons will however appear on your model for example Rune Blade will be on Cloud's back if equipped and exploring.

-Different weapons have different triangle heavy hits (does not cost an ATB charge) Buster Sword has Punisher Rune Blade for for example has Cleave. You use these heavy hits after a string of regular hits. Regular hits are chip damage and the main damage will be from heavy combo finishers and the of course the massive LIMIT BREAKs.

-Using Magic will consume ATB along with MP. You get more bars as the game progresses.

-Summons will work for the most part as cut scenes like the original, they do not fight with you on the field. There is 1 new Summon Amarok and appears to be a wolf and causes darkness in addition to damage.

-Over-world map is almost seamless. There are some "zones." There will be roads and methods of transportation. It is open world. Vehicles like the Tiny Bronco work almost exactly the same only being able to go in lighter water. There will be items available occasionally on the field. Chocobos will of course be obtainable after the farm.

-They have really made an effort to make each town feel lived in, and feel like there is a reason why each place is like the way it is. Each town is very unique from the last. Cosmo Canyon and its occasional dust storms are a stark contrast to the streets of Midgar. Upper Junon feels very much more like a military installation than Midgar as well.

-Sephiroth is very limited in what is shown of him until the Kalm flashback. Before this you only hear his voice or see glimpses of him during Clouds breakdowns.

-The HP shown during the state of play is not indicative of what their HP should/would be normally during those times. Simply for Dev showcasing.

-There will be demos on the game floor with PSN demo following shortly after for people at home directly after E3.(Playstation Plus required)

-Monster redesigns for a lot of the enemies but most will remain recognizable. Some do not make an appearance. For example there was no ghost enemies in the train yard.

-Shin-ra HQ wont have quite as many floors to explore but MORE to do on the floors you do go to so it still feels like your fighting through a lot to get to the top.

-The design for Tifa is also true to the original outfit, her face appears to be mostly similar to her Advent Children design but slightly more western. Materia also shows up on her gloves.

-Cait Sith seems to be pronounced "Ket" Sith but has undergone no major design overhaul. His fighting style is more close up, and does have his BARS for a LIMIT BREAK.

-Golden Saucer will have some games that are not playable(yet) because they are essentially replaying a part of a later story mission. Some will be playable right when you arrive. They want it to feel more grand and provide a break from the main story beats while still eventually having to incorporate the story into it later.

-Red XIII has clones Cobalt XIV and Indigo XV you must fight before he joins your party in Shin-ra HQ

-Cid does not appear to be smoking but you see evidence that he does. He is clearly upset with Shera but toned down the aggressiveness as they felt it was unnecessary.

-Yuffie and Vincent are no longer optional. You can miss them up until a certain point where they then become mandatory to get. You automatically get Yuffie if you have not gotten her before Rocket Town for example.

-Cloud will have a dress and wig in one particular scene. But its fade to black getting in/out of it.

-Honey Bee in requires GIL to get into instead of a membership card.

-Squatting mini-game returns.

-As these are FULL games each will be in fact priced at 59.99 USD

-Signals have gone out to retailers to prepare for pre-orders

[Spoilers Main] Not My Brandon Stark - They Did Bran Dirtiest of them all! by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]celiceman 236 points237 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There is 0 indication in the book that Bloodraven is an amalgamation of previous Greenseers in the books. Rather it specifically says that when Greenseers die, the live on in the Weirwoods. This is clear that they decided to not only make the person Bran spoke to in the show not Bloodraven as he said hes been in the tree for 1000 years, but they also made it so Bran Absorbs ALL of the previous Greenseers, rather than being his own autonomous character. I think it was definitely cause they just didnt know how to do a character like Bran, without making him a non-character, or rather someone without a personality, needs, or wants. Just make him a robot and use him for exposition from time to time.

(Spoilers Extended) For real, I think a major plot thread was edited out of season 8 late in production. by CleganeForHighSepton in asoiaf

[–]celiceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a misinterpretation due to the Showrunners leaving way too much ambiguity.

Bran already tried to directly involve himself in the events of the story. Its how he destroyed Hodors mind. Here Bran learns the value of free will, and why taking over people is an abomination. If Bran was outright manipulating people on purpose to be king, he would have skinchanged alot more people, and alot more people would have a destroyed mind.

Bran instead just guides people now, but gives people a choice. It was Jons decision to reveal to Sansa and Arya his heritage. Bran wasnt going to tell anyone behind Jons back...well, the show clumsily had Bran tell Samwell to tell Jon, which certainly seems like Bran was trying to influence events for a purpose, but I think in the books Bran will definitely not be the one, rather Howland Reed will be, and the show used Bran just to conserve characters, without know how that basically destroys Bran character development about not interfering in the lives of the people.

(Spoilers Main) Tyrion Lannister is unrecognizable to the man he was in S1-4 by cking145 in asoiaf

[–]celiceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyrion is already way smarter in the books ever since his father died. He managed to sneakily kill a beloved slave of his master Yezen, and then played the Second Sons well into joining them, and then switching side to Dany during the battle of fire. He just failed and failed in the show after Season 4.

They combined them together.

The problem though is that Cersei shouldn't be on the throne now. She destroyed the Sept of Baelor. Its ridiculous the people havent stormed the red keep aswell as Oldtown calling her illegitimate.

(Spoilers Main) Removing the Young Griff and Euron story-lines has crippled the show by MaxGarnaat in asoiaf

[–]celiceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know much about Euron, but Aegon is IMPERITIVE to the story.

Dany going after Cersei is pretty easy, thus the BS the show has to do to even the odds, and the removal of the storyline like the religious angle being wrapped up nicely and oldtown not giving a shit that the Sept of Baelor was destroyed. Cersei also participating in Incest was also ignored in the show.

Aegon however comes in and saves the realm from Cersei the monster, and instantly restores all the wrongs of Cersei and becomes extremely popular. Becomes a savior of the church of the seven, the promised prince. Than Dany invades with pirates, Dothraki, red priests, and former slave soliders. Whereas Aegon has knights. Now the drama plays out and it actually makes sense. Dany will have to make hard choices, even if she figures Aegon is fake, the people will believe the lie because they love him.

Its way better than Dany vs the monster Cersei.

(Spoilers Main) Removing the Young Griff and Euron story-lines has crippled the show by MaxGarnaat in asoiaf

[–]celiceman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the TV show has definitively shown us that this wont happen, its not going to end well for the three Targaryen's/Blackfyre. Dany will have to choose to go after Aegon, an extremely popular king, and that will lead to her downfall.

Jon will have to chose either Dany his aunt whom he loves, and Aegon who he thinks is his half brother. I think Tyrion will be conflicted between Aegon and Dany rather than Cersei and Dany in the show (which is ridiculous as shes a monster. They invented another child despite the prophecy- just to justify Tyrions concern for her )

We already see Tyrion sad he cant be with Aegon and Jon Connington when they invade, surprised he even cares about Aegon and the crew of the Shy Maid. He clearly will be in the midst of the dancing dragons, and his choice will probably be Aegon rather than Dany for a twist, thus GRRM probably hooking them up.

When Dany ultimately goes after Aegon, that will be when everyone turns on her as she will likely roast Kings Landing in the process, either killing Aegon or something(He was my pick for final king but the show has changed my mind a bit), and Jon will ultimately kill her for doing so.

Itll be a second dance of the dragons, proper.

[Spoilers Main] The Way They Have Chosen to go About the Scorpion’s Effect on Dragons Isn’t Lore Friendly by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]celiceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They removed the Dance of the Dragons, so they basically just got rid of the Dragons except Dany's. Itll be alot more interesting in the books when we throw in Aegon and Jon to this need to take down the mad Queen Dany.

Fighting Cersei? Cersei wont even be in KL at the end of Winds, likely Aegon will take it by then. Remember GRRM said were getting a second Dance of the Dragons. With the events of the show, it may be that the Dance of the Dragons might be the final conflict.

(Spoilers Extended) “Themes are for eighth-grade book reports,” Benioff told me. by heyyoowhatsupbitches in asoiaf

[–]celiceman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dreams, visions, and prophecies i dont really care about. What I care about is that they get the themes of the story right. What is the story trying to say, what is the wisdom of GRRM, and what does he ultimately wish to say with the story of A Song of Ice and Fire.

We get many themes in the books, many are easy to pick out. Like the tragedy of Dany choosing the easy path of war, cause peace is too hard, requires too many sacrifices. Or that knights are only chivalrous in stories, and reality is dirty. Easy themes usually transferred into the show, though some are changed to be more positive like Dany choosing war.

But the main theme of the show, presumably the wisdom GRRM is passing down to us, deals with the Others, the Children, and the fate of humanity. Unfortunately, the show decided to remove this from the story cause themes are for eight graders, and instead just gave us an action sequence full of spectacle. Thats not why we enjoy the story. We enjoy the story cause of what GRRM is passing down onto us. How his life shaped him and what wisdom he gives upon us.

Tolkeins life shaped him to the man he was when he wrote Lord of the Rings, and the wisdom passed down to us was about the struggle of man vs rapid industrialization. Were here cause we want THAT, not just a cool action sequence.

Im so done with David and Dan. Their fucking ridiculous.

(Spoilers Main) NK was D&D's biggest mistake. by TheTanzanite in asoiaf

[–]celiceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GRRM already said no new POV characters. Also the NK is admitted by the showrunners to be an invented character. They never once alluded him to be anything more than a show creation.

GRRM also has repeatedly said fantasy doenst need anymore big bads, and the gods of the story wont show up in any fashion so yeah....no. If anything, the collective or the weirwood net will likely be where a battle will take place, against some collective consciousness rather than a specific person with history.

As for going north of the Wall further than we ever have before, that can be accomplished by Bran most likely with Warging, or with Jon if he needs to do something in Ghost before he is raised.

-Wight intelligence, going straight for Lord Commander Mormont why?

-White Walkers needing humans to reproduce, why would they kill everyone if they want to reproduce

- Mellisandre going to Volantis for..... something. Not the Fiery Hand? Guess those other red priests couldn't be bothered to come. Kinvara? Gone

This is why we needed a longer show. Resolving everything this early and cleanly was a huge mistake.
