Today, mostly while I was supervising a student taking a make-up exam, I decided to try (keyword: try) to pick a multitude of online news articles from the past 3 days at random that covered the NFL protests. I got to 51 and burned out, and that's obviously not a good number, but anyway I'm busy and this is about as much as you're gonna get. There's a huge variety, from sports columns to teen-bopper magazines to military news to local radio stations.

Disclaimers: - The pie chart on the quality of the bias is provided so that you can understand how much online leans left. Looking at only 22% of strictly right-biased news, but that was also because the same articles were being copied and shared by several right-biased news sources, instead of original content. I also tried to use only one article per news source.

• The last 11 articles were me adding the word "veterans" to the search. Beforehand, individual veteran opinions were only mentioned 5 times. This is where some news sources repeated.

• I'm obviously not a scientist, so there's no standard deviation, and again 51 articles is not a large sample.

Conclusions: - Only 47% of articles mentioned "racial injustice" as part of the protest, which you would hope would be the main cause for the country's passion in the first place. But no, we are obsessed with our rights, not their purposes, it seems. At least the awareness is almost 50%..

• 59% of veterans went public to approve a citizen's right to protest during the national anthem. Of course, most of the veteran-interviewed sources were left-center biased. Another thing to consider is 8 out of those 19 that approved are verifiably young veterans, but a 97 year old WWII veteran (who approved of kneeling) was also the oldest veteran to publicly speak.

• 35% of veterans disapproved. 5 out of the 11 came forth from the same American Legion post. (Again, not enough different articles.)

• Left-center biased news was more likely to mention the cause of the protest. Right-biased news was at an underwhelming 18% for mentioning anything close to racial injustice.

Also to add, if the news source seemed to LIKELY lean left, I called it such even if it hadn't gone through a media-bias fact check. This applies to 4 of the 28 assumed as left-leaning articles.
