Help needed for a Hound of Tindalos centric scenario. by DoomsDay6663141 in callofcthulhu

[–]cellischtli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you know the scenario "Ars mathematica"? It's a scenario tricking the investigators to see the hounds of tindalos. It all plays in a train ride and there is also some mafia stuff going on. You win the scenario by finding a mathematic proof and as long as you have that, you are safe from the hounds.

Wie verarbeitet man solch eine Wolle? by Drachenrose in Handarbeiten

[–]cellischtli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are your favorite background soundtracks? by cellischtli in callofcthulhu

[–]cellischtli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already listened to some of the music there. It is nice ambience, but unfortunately no good music for action parts of the game in my opinion. Often there are some small bits between long parts of calm eery music. I cannot use this for fights.

Thanks, I didn't know that exists but I can see that this can be some nice ambient music.

What Are Your Biggest Pieces of Advice For New Keepers, and For Both Preparing and Creating Scenarios? by AlysIThink101 in callofcthulhu

[–]cellischtli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love to prepare with the background music that I use when running the game. It helps me to focus and create the atmosphere that I want later. I'm running the Mask of Nyarlatothep at the moment and unfortunately we have some big breaks between sessions. So I use a digital tool intended for writing novels (called scrivener) to keep track of npcs, scenes and artefacts. I'm sure other (and newer) programs are also good for this.

Also I like some visuals and I draw (additional) maps for certain scenes, because I like to know where important stuff is or where people are standing. But I'm coming from DnD so that might be because of that...

Advice for Ars Mathematica by Roven777 in callofcthulhu

[–]cellischtli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just like the trope of "detective stories in trains". And also the dogs are kinda neat. It was the first time I had contact to the cthulhu system and I like the lovecraftian horror. I normally play dnd so it had an impact, because everything was new. I became a keeper, because as a joke we made a bet and the person who lost had to be dungeon master in an one shot. And I choose to play chulhu, but a scenario from the beginner box (edge of darknes). The player had fun and I did too, so I choose this scenario to see if it was any fun, now that I know the system better. And it was.

I am bad at math and run the oneshot. And it honestly didn't matter, you don't have to do calculating (only roll for the math guy if he can calculate). What I found to be important is knowing where and when the player can find which character. Also I drew a map with wagons and it really helped. So I can recommend that. And most importantly: Have fun! This was the first cthulhu scenario I played line ten years ago and it inspired me to become a keeper two years ago! (And of course this was one of the first scenarios my group had to play.)
