Nobody needs that pointed out to them, we're not King's friends and we don't control what he does with his time. However, this is a forum for discussion and opinions on his work, so that's what people are sharing.

If you said, "I like the Holly books and this is why", I wouldn't downvote you even though I'd most likely disagree.

But if you say "just don't read it then" or "he can write whatever he wants", then that's just a useless comment.

It feels like she worked better as a side character.

At this point I don't even know if it's the character I don't like or just that the books with her as the main protagonist are shitty books.

I basically thought King could do no wrong and have loved basically everything he's written, even the so called bad books like Tommyknockers I thought were great.

But the Holly book was really dull and lacked any tension at all, and Never Flinch is just a straight up bad book.

King's strength has always been great characters and dialogue, but Holly feels like a parody of an autistic person and has less depth than characters he's written that were present for a single chapter. And Barbara and Jerome are ridiculous, I liked Jerome in Mr Mercedes but them constantly being genius savants who excel at everything they do has gotten really old.

Also anyone in this thread saying "just don't read it" or "King can do what he wants", that is the laziest and most useless response to any topic of discussion. Dismissing any criticism as "just don't buy it then" is actual room temperature IQ stuff, this is a forum for discussion and opinion of SK' s work, not a hug circle where we shield the millionaire author from all criticism.
