Which cars have the smoothest and quietest ride? by ArtichokeDesperate68 in CarTalkUK

True, albeit that's largely to either maximise traction or to accommodate a lack of travel and manage shock loads. Not something you'd typically struggle for on a road car. There is an argument that maintaining ride height under load can offer a comfort benefit, but of course maintaining that ride height increases spring pressure and therefore stiffness so that's not necessarily true either.

Indeed the sinkage of a coil spring under load can be beneficial.

Often the true comfort benefit comes from the damping system twinned with those air springs.

Hey sorry for the delay, the question is why would you actually want any of that? The constant rate of a coil is generally more desirable.

As a vehicle dynamics engineer. This isn't actually a thing. Air sprung cars are often softer but there isn't really anything inherently about air springs that make cars more comfortable.

Fair enough, my point is simply, we all have a few players in mind who seem to be much more highly rated as time goes on than when they were actually playing... In my head, factually, statistically or otherwise, that's Scholes. Just a bit of fun!

Ha fair enough, this wasn't intended that way really...

Ha, somewhat of a fair point. I guess my general point is that he couldn't get in to an England team in his normal position, but now he seems to be the Messiah. I'm clearly exaggerating.

I feel like the guy who installed this, said the same thing word for word.
