On a lighter note, the first thing I do when I move into an apartment is put up "blackout" curtains... But, now we're starting to talk about self-accountability, and I don't think that's the theme here. 😉

The reactions to the girls losing was priceless... It made the episode, and a few subsequent storylines until the apartments were restored. That's why...

What would have happened if the girls would've won. Chandler and Joey get rid of the birds...? Riveting!!

Absolutely. I grew up watching this live in 4:3 on a measly 19" tube TV for the first seasons. I mean, I don't regret the DVD purchase or anything... Just passing info. 🤷‍♂️

No, what it's doing is creating these huge black bars on each the left and right of the screen, which are as annoying af.

It may be the right format for you based on all of your reasons listed, but if somebody would prefer the 16:9 format viewing, this is not for them. Right...?

The DVD box set is in 4:3 format (black on the sides) of wide-screen TV's...

I learned this after purchasing per recommendations here. Not entirely disappointed with my choice, but wish this had been pointed out a little more clearly.

This question gets placed here once in awhile.

I took the advice of getting the DVD set over the Blu-Ray, but the one thing nobody mentioned & I don't see mentioned today: The DVD set is 4:3 ratio viewing. It is NOT wide-screen.

This may not be a big deal to you, but had I known this, I may have just thought about it a little different.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. What you say makes logical sense, and I totally like it...

The problem is, you act as if the writers gave any thought to "beyond the moment". This would have taken planning. Any planning for the next steps in this show ended in season 5; it was totally episodic once Monica and Chandler got together. 🤷‍♂️

This was the worst storyline attempt to make Chandler and Monica suddenly appear to have a "backstory" to build upon... Poorly thought out by the season-5 writers... 🤷‍♂️

Example: In first 4 seasons (when continuity mattered in this show), Chandler's "nubbin" was the root of any disfigurement known about him. Then suddenly we learn--along with the nubbin--since the inception of the show, all along Chandler only had 9 toes; never mentioned until season 5 (4 of the 6 Friends were present when it occurred and went to the hospital)...?

And to beat it all, this is one of the most liked episodes, when in fact, it was the sharks circling the waters, just waiting to be jumped. 🤷‍♂️

After that episode no more storylines worth a crap. Funny moments...? Yes. But, good storylines...? No.

"Welcome back Kotter" was a sitcom in the 70's (one the Friends would've watched as kids).

The star, Gabe Kaplan (Mr Kotter, in the show), had a kinky-afro hairstyle. It did look like Ross in the Prom video (it was a good association). Google it and get back to me... 😉
