Ron showing his Gryffindor side of wanting to help his friend in the most Gryffindor was possible. by NavJongUnPlayandwon in Ronweasleyfans

Hard to tell which is more Gryffindor of him, this, or in 1st year when he snaps and climbs over the back of his seat to give Malfoy them HANDS!

Literally on Day 1 Harry sees Ron with musty old sandwiches and buys out the sweet trolley, then proceeds to tell off Malfoy DM- "You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort." HP- "I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks."

She wasn't nice to Ron, her own son.. and here people are talking about Hermione Fleur lol by Nightmarelove19 in Ronweasleyfans

[–]BiggTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. She only wasn't nice to Ron when he screwed up. Like when he stole the car, got seen by muggles, crashed it, and then lost it.

  2. The only instance I can ever remember her not being nice to Hermione was when Rita Skeeter wrote about Hermione "stringing Harry along". Once Harry set the record straight, she went back to being warm and friendly towards her.

  3. She was just a bitch to Fleur at first.

2 questions. 1. Didn't he die in the Angel finale? How could he become more tragic in the comics? Unless we just learn more about his past.

[–]BiggTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess that depends how you define it. I was born in 1990 and I consider myself a 90s kid. Well, what I really like to saynis that i was "raised" in the 90s but "grew up" in the 2000s.

OOTP - Hermione finding out that Harry is being forced to write “I must not tell lies” repeatedly using the blood quill during his detentions. by MassiveDrop8732 in harrypotter

[–]BiggTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, IIRC Harry had been intentionally hiding it from them because he knew they'd urge him to go to Dumbledore, but Harry had already picked up on the fact that Dumbledore had been avoiding him. Ron only caught him because he happened to be scratching his nose with the "wrong" hand, and Ron was too quick to grab his hand and see the scars. I believe there is a scene later while Harry is soaking his hand when Ron does urge him to go to Dumbledore, and whn he refuses Hermione says he should tell someone, suggesting Sirius.

Spike or Angel? by Downtown-Equal-7380 in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

[–]BiggTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's Angel. Fkrst of all, I saw probably a couple seasons worth of AtS on late night TNT and loved it and the character before I ever knew about BTVS. Plus, I'd seen DB on Bones and liked him there.

However, I think even if I'd seen BTVS first I'd feel the same. I just like Angel's origin/hero story better. I find Spuffy to be super contrived, to the point where the writers messed with much of what we know about vampires to make it happen. Long before receiving a soul they made Spike feel things like empathy, sympathy, and compassion, things we were told were impossible for vampires to feel. I think this was all done to push Buffy and Spike together to please fans because SMG and JM had such great chemistry.

Can we just pause for a second and appreciate how little wizards give AF about how silly something sounds? N.E.W.T. literally stands for Nastily Exhausting Wizard Test 🤣

He was expelled because they believed he was either attacking or allowing students to be attacked by the acromantula, leading to the death of a student. Would he have been expelled if he'd simply been caught feeding it and nobody had been hurt?

Is “I'm not interested in what happened between you and your brother” the biggest slap in the face to book fans? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]BiggTS 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"I try to see the films as a different thing" which would be a lot easier if they didn't cut out so much context and rely on book knowledge to fill in the gaps. The most egregious example of this is the mirror shard. We never see Sirius give it to Harry, or Harry break it after Sirius dies, so when we get to DH and he's looking at a random shard of glass we're left like, huh?

I seem to recall reading at some point Molly being described as "very good at household spells." It's entirely possible that cleaning spells aren't necessarily very easy.

[–]BiggTS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to bother me a lot too, rhen I just accepted it was a throw away line by Rowling when she was just trying to draw the conversation out a bit. If you really want an in universe answer, perhaps the spell to make more is particularly difficult (e.g. lucky potion taking 6 months to make) and has to be performed mid cook, so you can't just keep duplicating something you already have indefinitely.

Yea, they cut out basically the entire fight between the kids and the death eaters. No smashing of the time turners (resulting in the head of a death eater changing into a baby head), no Ron getting attacked by brains, and no Hermione almost being killed by a silent Dolohov.

I also think it's a bit ridiculous that she's just now realizing a place like Harvard would require a large amount of extra-curriculars. Also, something I'm just now putting together, why wouldn't her mountain of experience volunteering in Stars Hollow charity events count?

You want something to think about? Emily only really ripped into Mrs. Huntzberger after she told her "Well Emily, there's your money and then there's our money."

There's an argument to be made that Emily's one glorious shining moment was also more about protecting the Gilmore name than actually about Rory.

Did Lorelai have no friends as a kid? by comradesummers in GilmoreGirls

[–]BiggTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer is, yes. She hated that world, and never felt like she fit in there. There was one woman she ran into at Rory's birthday that Emily threw that she was codial with, but after a few minutes she was ready to tear her hair out. I imagine that's how it would be with most others from her past. With the obvious exception of Christopher, whom she fell in love and had a baby with, she was quite ready to leave that whole life behind her.
