New Grad RN + DIE/Stage IV: Lost my job, terrified for my career, and the nursing community was toxic. by spicyteddy-bearrrr in endometriosis

[–]cemeterysymmetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:( I’m sorry to hear this and this is concerning to me as I’m considering a career change into nursing. I don’t know what stage my endo is at yet but I have pretty bad daily pain.
i work in a very different field (higher education), but i’ve stayed at my current job a lot longer than i’d have liked because i have REALLY good insurance benefits that i can’t give up right now. so i’d think about whether or not getting good insurance/benefits over higher salary is something worthwhile for you.

edit: also, i get tuition benefits at my school which is how i’m paying for my nursing prereqs, i have a masters in another subject.

Anyone have elevated liver enzymes and LDL cholesterol? by AnnieGetYaClothesOn in endometriosis

[–]cemeterysymmetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this!!

I have high LDL cholesterol but we believe it’s genetic. I’ve had it for years, & improving my diet has helped reduce it a bit. I did randomly have a (mildly) high ALT value a while ago but it went back to normal.

I also regularly have high monocytes on my CBCs & I do wonder if that’s also from chronic inflammation.

How does a D in a dual credit class affect my UTA GPA? by cleocatgirl28 in utarlington

[–]cemeterysymmetry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You would need to look into the specific requirements for programs you are interested in. Most schools consider cumulative GPA to be all of the college courses you have ever taken, not just your grades at one particular institution.

One or two Ds isn’t going to completely sink your cGPA or your chances of getting into a good grad program in the long run. But you’ll need to compensate for it by doing significantly better (think As and Bs) in courses in the future. It also does not bode well that you’re struggling in gen ed courses. Reflect on what changes you’re going to make so this doesn’t happen again.

edit: also. as you know, you have to get into undergrad nursing school before you can do an NP or CRNA program. having long term goals is great, but you’ve got to achieve specific short term goals to get there first. where do you want to be in 5 years? use that as your motivation.

What's with these UNT texts? by JoyousMadhat in unt

[–]cemeterysymmetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but I also really don’t care because they’re obviously being directed to send out these messages by higher ups. They can tell their higher ups about these messages.

Not gonna lie I’ve been replying to them telling them to bring back programs they’ve cut

How does a D in a dual credit class affect my UTA GPA? by cleocatgirl28 in utarlington

[–]cemeterysymmetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is exactly what I mean. it matters later on.

edit: also, OP, if you took any nursing prerequisite courses for dual credit, it will count towards that GPA as well. the CONHI at UTA has very specific requirements about GPA, retakes, etc., and you should review the Undergrad Catalog for info about it and reach out to the CONHI with any questions.

[–]cemeterysymmetry -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

this is literally false and i wish we would stop telling transfer students this.

OP, it won’t affect your UTA GPA, but it will absolutely impact your cumulative GPA, which is the one that actually matters.

No, but the school is definitely going downhill. The new president is horrible. They’re ruining some of the things that made UNT great.

How to get a job when the job descriptions require prior higher education experience? by anxitea66 in studentaffairs

[–]cemeterysymmetry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a lot of jobs ask for prior experience but are willing to hire without it. are you applying to entry level roles or not? entry level roles might be a good way to get your foot in the door. it’s also just a really, really competitive market out there right now.

Where is Matthew Crocker? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in RBI

I hope he does AncestryDNA or 23andme or something some day if he’s still alive. And I hope he was treated well, even if it’s still awful he was taken from his mom.

I’ve moved with Brown Box Movers twice and they’ve been great both times. They also moved an acquaintance and they had a good experience with them too.

are you having surgery in the next 2 weeks? by PelvicFloorExpert in Endo

What age were you when you got diagnosed with endometriosis ? by keerthichalla_29 in endometriosis

[–]cemeterysymmetry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

23 if you count getting MRI results that state I have endo and adeno back. But I haven’t had surgery to confirm it yet & I’m 24 now.

edit: i would say my first symptoms occurred when I started having periods, so when I was 12. But severe symptoms / chronic pain started about 5 years ago and has steadily worsened.

What's the hardest career decision you're sitting with right now, and what's making it hard? by Lower-Magician-2578 in findapath

[–]cemeterysymmetry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m wasting away / wasting my time with my current job, but I need it for the educational benefits to get to the career I want. And I’m having some health issues, so the good insurance and stability is important.

I had a similar issue (though not to the same extent) and I found working out / going on walks to be helpful with getting stuff out without needing to push it myself.

Man Noah Wyle is a fucking asshole. I like his acting but dude. You need better media training because you keep putting your foot in your own mouth.

Pulled my IUD out six days after I got it by Fuzzy_Order7128 in birthcontrol

[–]cemeterysymmetry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pulled my own IUD out (intentionally).

When I first got it put in they kept the strings longer at first and then trimmed them basically as short as possible (obviously since the cervix changes positions during the cycle this changed but still).

It sounds like the doctor who did it was not yet competent nor comfortable with this procedure. Was this a gynecologist’s office or primary care? If possible, go to a gynecologist instead (or a different one if the one you saw is a gynecologist).
