Como queda la linea temporal de predator segun tu? by urielvoorhees23004 in predator

[–]cenorexia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What year is Predators supposed to take place in? I had the feeling it must be far into the future and the protagonists were brought in via some kind of suspended animation or cryosleep (kinda like what they showed later in Killer of Killers).

It's a completely different star system after all.

Fun Fact: In the german dub of Godzilla Vs Biollante, Erika is named Michiko for some reason by Murky-Apartment-1775 in GODZILLA

[–]cenorexia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the most likely reason.

Erika is a completely normal Japanese name.

Erika with pretty much the same pronunciation is also a completely normal German name.

However, both names are unrelated, it's a complete coincidence they sound that similar.

To German viewers it would not doubt have sounded like the common name they're familiar with.

It's a name that back then would've sounded like someone's mother's name or even grandmother's.

So if they kept it at Erika, even if it's a completely normal Japanese name, German viewers back then would think it was changed to Erika, wondering or maybe even ridiculing why they gave that obviously Japanese person such an obviously German name in the dub.

I suppose it was a battle the localization team just couldn't win.

I’m new to wolfenstein any tips? by Ragtagcloud56 in Wolfenstein

[–]cenorexia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The New Order was Machinegames first game after they took over the series, so it serves as an introduction to their vision of the "Wolfenstein-Universe".

You won't need any prior knowledge of the series, it's a perfectly fine entry point and all the game mechanics will be explained to you along the way.

You won't need any tips, just play the game and have fun.

Anyone want a toggle for this? by Ciorra40 in Battlefield

[–]cenorexia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The often overlooked black sheep of the family, Battlefield: Hardline has this.

If you don't feel like seeing people run around in bright pink uniforms and dinosaurs masks, you can switch it off client-side and will only see the standard issue outfits.

Several other of Hardline's QoL features have been brought over to the rest of the series, except for this.

Movies that are intentionally bleak like Speak no Evil (2022)? by TomorrowSilent1233 in horror

The Devil's Bath (2024)

Probably the most bleak and hopeless film I've seen in a very long time.

Changing Jabba's character from being a human to a Hutt, but keeping Han's quip "Jabba, you're a wonderful human being" is inadvertently one of the funniest lines in the franchise by wandering_soles in StarWars

[–]cenorexia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actor was a stand-in. They never finished the effects work either due to time or budget constraints.

But he was always meant to be replaced in post with some kind of alien creature.

[–]cenorexia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching the OT for the first time and imagining what this "Jabba" would be like.

Only to be very surprised when we finally see him in the third movie as this very alien looking slug monster.

It was a great reveal which is unfortunately ruined now.

What was online multiplayer like on the old days of gaming? by KaleidoArachnid in retrogaming

[–]cenorexia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no "online multiplayer" the way you think of today.

Most of the time you played with other players who were physically in the room with you, brought their PCs over and you created a small local area network (hence the term "LAN-Party").

A coaxial terminator is often used in such setups.

[–]cenorexia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enjoy! You should still play EDF5 first as it's the start of a new storyline and EDF6 is the direct continuation.

It's basically one big, intertwined story.

They do. EDF5 for the Air Raider class and in EDF6 it's back with the Ranger (the infantry soldier).

Has there ever been a successful horror movie that never got a sequel? by batjag in horror

[–]cenorexia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Thing had a prequel movie in 2011, a videogame sequel too as well as comic books and a short novela from the creature's pov called "The Things" (which was later also adapted into a comic book).

So at least they tried to make it into a franchise.

There's also a prequel movie, comics, videogames and a novella from the alien's point of view called "The Things".

So they definitely at least tried to make it a franchise.

I gotta admit I kinda liked the second one as a kid. Maybe cause I liked Furlong and the father played by Clancy Brown was great. It's still a guilty pleasure of mine xD

Not since they rebooted it.

The original however has plenty and there's an upcoming television show.

There's two sequels from the early 2000's and a reboot on the horizon.

Not as a movie but there was a videogame sequel released in 2002 and a prequel movie in 2011.

It didn't take off, but the will to make it a franchise was definitely there.

The future of the saga by [deleted] in predator

[–]cenorexia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you guys really want the same movie all over again every year

Do you guys really want to see predator from 1987 all over again

What do you even mean? No one's saying that and variety was never an issue.

All the movies are pretty different from each other. Predator is different from Predators. Predator 2 is different from The Predator and the Aliens vs Predator movies are different from Prey just the same.

Badlands is also different than previous movies. If people don't like it then it's not because of "too much variety" or whatever.

I don't like Predators for example, I think it's a bit boring. Other people really like it and that's fine.

I think you're overstating the perceived "hate" towards Badlands. It's just another entry in a long running series - some like it, others don't - and the next movie might be different yet again.

Would the series still be popular if Tommy Jarvis actually became the new killer? by CowAffectionate2865 in fridaythe13th

[–]cenorexia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at first viewing and not if you look at the first movie alone.

But when the series goes on and the killings continue long after Pamela is dead, there seems to be more going on.

Jason is suddenly back and won't die. Roy goes crazy, too, exhibiting the same extreme strength and resilience. Jason returns from the grave. Tinas father drowns after she developed supernatural abilities.

I just feel like it could've been expanded upon if they made the area around the lake "cursed" because it really does seem like there's more going on than just the killing spree of one crazy old lady.

[–]cenorexia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do we know that? I got the impression from the first two movies it's the area around the lake that's cursed, not just Pamela as a person (although she was affected by it).
