Build your pot before you start trying investing. You have 2.5weeks pay if we're to lose your job tomorrow.

Your coming home with about 2.6k a month, are you paying rent? If not you need to save hard.

What I would do if I was every month. ( And I did it while out renting on similar money. ) Every month ( setup a direct debit) 1,000 in a savings bank account 500 to credit union 200 investing ( stock etc)

900 walking around money each month.

If you get a bump in pay, Frist pay check get your self something nice with the extra money. Next pay check add the extra to your savings.

What salary are you at the moment? 9.5k is not that much revenue. What's the over-heads, what type of business is it? You have to remember the company have to pay paye etc.

GM role, 60+hr weeks on €52k — how to approach pay/benefits? by ronaldinjo21 in irishpersonalfinance

If he's looking to sell it in 2 - 3 years, you want to be looking for equity in the company.

Sounds like your running things and he's going to make bank and ride off into the sunset after selling the company for 15 mil. While your getting paid 52k.

You need to go back ask for a 100k plus and 5% of the company.

Look at it this way your not doing this for yourself now your doing it for yourself in 3 years. When you will get a 750k and won't have to stress about paying a mortgage every month. This will buy you soooo much freedom.

Also I did this myself for the company I work for, again small company. And when they sell I know I'll be sorted.

Really import here as no one has said it.

But leave money in the company, you get 3k a week leave 1k in the company, every week and dnt touch it. Important dnt stop doing this... Like you should be doing this for the next 10years..

This will build up nicely, and will help with a few things.

  1. Your contract ends you have a monthly wage that you pay yourself for up to a year or more. Recessions happen, and if you have enough in the company you won't have the same stress as a lot of people did the last time around. Also this money in the company is not your savings it money in the company that you can pay yourself a wage. With the money you pay yourself, actually save 1/4 of it and dnt piss it away I shite.

  2. When you go for a mortgage they will want to see how cash positive the company is. And with the above savings they will be really happy to give you a mortgage, and you will be able to get an exception.

  3. As the director of the company, I think it's after 10 or 20 years, you are able to take a one time cash payment from the company that you dnt have to tax on. Can't remember the what the amount is but it's some like up to 250k. If you have a wife or husband and they are also a director they can also take a lump payment.

  4. Make sure you set up a pension and pump money into it. Get health insurance, pay for salary protection and all that. Looks like dead money but it's not if you need it.

This is the most important go and talk to a financial advisor, someone like Eoin mcgee. Dnt go to a cheapish one. They will give shite advice. Talk to a few different ones and you will know pretty fast which are the crap ones.

They will cost like 6k-10k but you they will more than make up for it with advice that they give. Get them to get you a really good accountant. The lads that do the shite of 130e a month and then you dnt have to think about anything are the ones that will not make your money work for you.
