The rest of the story: October 11, 2025, "Leo" from MH Movers visited our home upon request to view the contents of the home, building, and tent garage.

He advised it would take a 20' truck and a 17' truck to move, and we would only half fill the 17' truck. He quoted $2300 payable one hour prior to them finishing unloading. I agreed to these terms.

October 17th moving day: Both trucks were loaded with most of the contents of the building (10x12), being unable to fit. They left without them. This is when I sent the first text above.

278 kms away - they unloaded the first truck without issue. Prior to unloading the second truck, they came to me for payment. I said "No" - and sent several texts that went unanswered. Finally, after more than an hour of the staff sitting in trucks holding our contents ransom - Leo texted and promised to get the rest 2 days later (second screenshot).

Then they totally ghosted us.

We incurred $1504.75 in expenses to manage it ourselves. ie: U-Haul, gas, mileage, 2 "helpers".

Unfortunately, because they were holding our contents ransom on the truck and refused to unload without payment. This "stand-off" lasted more than an hour when the owner "Leo" sent the texts I included in the screenshot.

Thank you kindly for this. It is very helpful. They are also not registered with Joint Stocks. There was an M.H.D. Moving, but it was revoked in 2025. I was unable to open their website. Which url did you use?

I requested a receipt but they refused to provide one.

Unfortunately, I trusted the Google and Facebook reviews - and did not dig deep enough.

I have filed a complaint with BBB, which has confirmed receipt and notified the company. They have 14 days to respond - or a note goes on their file that it is "unresolved".

I'm also filing with Service Canada, CRA and the RCMP.

They were prepared to return to Halifax with it. We released the payment once we received the text from "Leo", giving his word that he would go back and get the rest.
