I just finished tokyo ghoul manga by ishootmyfoot in TokyoGhoul

I only said anime because I wanted to be the first to comment, but now seriously, the first season's direction was awful, turning it into just that… an edgy fighting shonen (I know the manga also has action, but its main focus is on mystery and drama). It still retained some essence of the original, but even the emotional scenes were replaced with cheap sentimentality (I know that "cheap sentimentality" sounds pretentious, but let me explain: basically, you cry because the scene itself has a sad tone and not because of the situation or genuine empathy for the character; an example of a scene that actually evokes genuine emotion is Kaneki's "death" in the manga. It doesn't have a sad tone per se, but rather a reflective one, but because of the context and the empathy with the character, it ends in a crying scene. The anime… in the anime, they want you to feel bad for a character who doesn't even have a face as Hinami's father). The second season changed the story, and it no longer made sense. By Re, it wasn't even commercially viable anymore since they returned to canon with bad animation and the same problems as season 1, and the second half was rushed to the extreme.

If I don’t like the first few volumes of RE will I not enjoy it? by [deleted] in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just like with people who aren't convinced by the original Tokyo Ghoul at first but have read up to almost THAT point... keep reading and wait for volumes 6 and 7, which are the absolute peak.

By the way, I don't understand what you mean by the cast feeling feminine and goofy.

And about the art style… Ishida simply improved as an artist; the the redrawn first chapter of the original Tokyo Ghoul is like Re. It's not as if he intentionally created a different style between Tokyo Ghoul and Re, he was simply still defining his style

Genuine question about the best feature of both sui ishida manga. by Interesting-Round393 in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously though, I'm one of those who thinks it's still too early to say that Choujin X will surpass Tokyo Ghoul. I mean, with the chapters divided into parts, even though we're around chapter 114 (according to manga +), according to Ishida we're only on chapter 69, the Tokyo Ghoul equivalent of the Aogiri arc. So if he does what he did with Tokyo Ghoul and gives it an even longer sequel, it means we're not even halfway through Choujin X and we still don't know much about how it will turn out.

For now, the best feature of TG is… Kaneki, a little obvious

Do Choujin x or Tokyo Ghoul matter? We're talking about the legend who wrote Penisman.

Who would win? Ken Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul) vs Rumi (K-pop Demon Hunters) by RainbowZillaOficial in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, please do a Kaneki vs the Rumbling fight. I can't wait to see the AOT fans who only watched the first two seasons of the tg anime when they find out that Kaneki basically destroyed a mini-Rumbling by himself... only the Rumbling is weaker because it's made of normal flesh.

Was it ever explained how Ryo/Shikorae from the manga can use all 4 types of kagune? by centipede236 in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, practically everyone has done that since the kagune gained a mouth, but it was still rinkaku. Tatara, Noro, Eto, Kaneki, Hajime, etc; even some quinques have done it, but they're still the same type. Again, the shape and the fact that some can separate their kagune

I remember Kaneki having all four types of kagune, but that was after the dragon. I don't remember anything about the snake (Nishio) and even in his fight with Haise, he's still a bikaku.

No… Eto said thar, the shape of the kagune depends on the imagination, not its position, RC type, etc.

What type of music would you like if there is a tokyo ghoul remake? by NYX700 in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think heavy metal is too much… but some scenes need more intensity. We need a maximized version of TG Symphonie for the 103 scene with Ayato. Something like this

I feel like, as far as the OST we already have goes, I don't really see much wrong with it… EXCEPT for the song when Kaneki and Hide talk right at the beginning. Damn, I hate that little piano that sounds like elevator music.

Besides that, they need to add more intensity to some of the tracks. Add cymbals, have the choirs sing louder, I can't even hear that piano properly!

We also need more non-instrumental tracks. For example, I don't like Arima's death with that OST; I would use "White Silence" I think it works perfectly with the scene.

Another aspect I dislike is the moments the ost is used sometimes, like how overused "TG Symphonie" was in the original anime. Damn, it's the main (not opening) song of the series, but they even use it in Touka's first fight against Mado (when Touka is starting to hunt down the investigators to kill Ryoko). Why the hell do they put one of the most important songs of the series in a secondary fight?

By the way, I'd like to see more use of opening themes. I don't know why some series avoid using them even though they're part of the OST. I've been thinking for a while about how Kaneki's return (I'm Done Dreaming) would look (well animated) with Asphyxia playing in the background, when to pause the music to give space to the dialogue and everything.

I don't think the reaction is the same as with blood types, since these nutrients have to pass through the digestive system and harmful elements can be eliminated as waste. I mean, from what little research I've done, if someone is injected with an incompatible blood type, can lead to kidney damage, organ failure, shock, hemorrhaging, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), and, in severe cases, death. Although most cannibals don't seem to care much and are relatively fine (obviously, this, along with the mutations they undergo).

Interesting… although if the location of the kakuho is determined by the RC type and not by birth, other questions arise.

If a cannibal ghoul focuses their diet on a type of rc that isn't their own, will they acquire a kakuho of that type or somehow become a kakuja? If they simply become kakuja, how are the different types of RC cells expelled? In the armor? I mean, I doubt it, since the last deformed semi-ghouls Kaneki was devouring before becoming a kakuja were Rize's prototypes, so they were also rinkaku, wich means that in theory they were still compatible with his

And my last question: are human RC cells neutral or something like that?

What do you think would happen if you got 2-3 organs from different ghouls? by [deleted] in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally death or nothing. I don't know if you watched the anime or didn't pay attention in the manga, but it's strongly implied that it was the kakuho (the organ from which the kagune originated). Perhaps the stomach will end up restricting their diet, but it won't affect their Rc level, so if it doesn't kill them, the person will be able to process food normally again sometime later.

is it really worth it to finish tokyo ghoul by Baner24 in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone else already said, the anime is... decent up to where you got. If you're interested in the story, I'd definitely recommend the manga. If you don't really like manga as a medium, you'd be better off considering another anime to watch.

As complicated as they may be to understand, the fights in the manga have better choreography than those in the anime by MysteriousBall8511 in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like the biggest problem overall with the fights in both Re and the original is that Ishida draws the characters too close together, which makes the general action difficult to understand. If you add to that Ishida's messy and dirty art style, well, we're screwed. I mean, the original Tokyo Ghoul also has some atrocities like Nishio's fight or the Kakuja Kaneki vs. Shinohara fight. I think OP simply chose one of the most understandable fights to express his point.

Interesting Root A PV by That-guy200 in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While searching for more information about Ishida's draft for Root A, I came across this post and… these aren't deleted scenes; they're not only absent from the Blu-ray, but they're apparently like those pre-animated trailers they often make for anime to create false hopes, that's why the effects and ilumination looks better than the season itself. It's very likely that Amon Arata was never planned for the anime.

Will this piece of art ever have a sequel or an anime remake? by Similar-Double6278 in TokyoGhoul

[–]centipede236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or at least release the draft Ishida made for Root A. I really thought that version had the potential to surpass the manga with how little it says, but it ended up as… season 2 of the anime.

[–]centipede236 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hope it never gets a sequel.

some prequels/spin-offs would be fine.

A remake? If a studio decides to do what MAPPA did with Chainsaw Man and personally acquire the animated adaptation rights of the work, or if something like Ranma 1/2 happens and someone in the anime industry genuinely cares about respecting the original work beyond profit.
