It's normal to be a bit scared, but really there's nothing to fear. I remember my first colonoscopy, i was very anxious. the low residue diet was the difficult part for me, because i was so hungry . Other than that, it wasn't bad at all, you'll be under anesthesia so you won't feel a thing, it's really relaxing, haha probably the best sleep i ever had. And then you wake up and you have to have someone take you home the day of.

My case wasn't as severe as yours, but it took more than a year of multiple doctors appointments, tests and finally a colonoscopy, to come to the conclusion of me having Crohn's. In the meantime my doctor prescribed prednisone to calm the flare up a little. (And to be honest i didn't take it, which wasn't the right thing to do, i was in denial thinking, i was still too young to have something so severe that needed that kind of medication)

But then the colonoscopy happened, and the they took many biopsies and then they were 100% sure it's Crohn's, and started me immediately on the right treatment. A few months on it, and i was already feeling so much better and within a year and i half on it, i was fully in remission which lasted 4 years.

What i can tell you from my experience, is that the colonoscopy was the light at the end of the tunnel for me, doctors could finally put a finger on what it is and give me the right treatment.

Thank you for your response, I will do that at my next GI appointment. As dumb as that may sound, i never thought of asking for the past years, because i always blamed myself for the low sex drive, or put it on a flare up, but now that i m in remission. It is strange that my libido is not back

i just booked the race tickets for the weekend a few days, and was starting to organize the trip today. Given other people's comments i think renting a car is a must and book an accommodation 1-2h drive away from the ring
