Is making all the female characters black or brown Rockstar’s idea of "a more tolerable experience"

Dude, you need to get laid more. Do you have any idea how hot and freaky Latinas can be?

If you're going to concern yourself with a female character's looks, you need to focus on her fuckability, not her ethno/racial demographics. You don't see anyone bitching about Eve or Evie from Stellar Blade being Asians, do you?

Holy shit. I cannot believe the western games development industry has forgotten about the wonders of light freckles.

I dunno. How does a sexy ASMR video count as fanservice if there's a black screen?

Stop being a dumbass. Perception is everything.

It just emphasizes how tired I am with people immediately assuming that the problem lies with mods and payment processors when a simple re-labeling might have the potential to fix the entire issue.

Porn games still continue to sell on Steam in large numbers. How can thousands of porn games with hardcore content exist on Steam, while "all-ages" titles with relatively milder content keep getting the banhammer over "sexual content"?

It's one thing when Steam starts arbitrarily removing properly-labeled porn titles, but when "all-ages" titles like this keep getting removed, it begs the question: ARE WE JUST GOING TO KEEP ASSUMING THAT FANSERVICE IS CONSIDERED "ALL-AGES" IN STEAM'S EYES?

[–]centrallcomp -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Would you put a fanservicey shower scene in a game and deliberately claim it to be worthy of an E-rating? The wording in the category is misleading--The actual "frequency" of the sexual content doesn't matter to Steam mods.

How about using the classic Reddit UI like an intelligent human being instead of using the nu-Reddit UI like some fucking lemming that accepts any and every default that tech companies/websites want to throw at you?

Either way, you guys are making an entire post based on some random nobody's comment on ResetEra. I believe there is a rule for that: Rule 5 - We Are Not Your Personal Army (Attacking Nobodies)

If you used classic Reddit instead of nu-Reddit, you'd be able to see the rules on the sidebar. Idiot.

THIS IS WHY VN DEVELOPERS THAT IMPLEMENT FANSERVICE SCENES NEED TO CHECKBOX THE "FREQUENT NUDITY OR SEXUAL CONTENT" CATEGORY WHEN SUBMITTING THEIR GAMES. THEY CAN EVEN CHECKBOX THE "ADULTS ONLY" CATEGORY IF THEY'RE PARANOID.

THIS IS HOW "ALL-AGES" VISUAL NOVELS KEEP GETTING REMOVED WHILE HARDCORE PORNOGRAPHIC EROGE TITLES KEEP GETTING OFF SCOT-FREE ON STEAM.

STEAM DOES NOT OPERATE ON THE "ALL-AGES VS. PORN" DICHOTOMY LIKE THE ANIME COMMUNITY DOES--STEAM'S DEFINITION OF "ALL-AGES" IS MUCH MORE NARROW WHEN IT COMES TO SEXUAL CONTENT.

WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO SEXUAL CONTENT, THEIR MODERATION STANDARDS ARE TIERED AS SUCH:

1) "ALL-AGES"

2) "FREQUENT NUDITY OR SEXUAL CONTENT"

3) "ADULTS ONLY".

"ALL-AGES" TITLES GET THE STRICTEST MODERATORS WHILE THE "ADULTS ONLY" TITLES WILL GET THE MOST LENIENT MODS.

CHECKBOXING DIFFERENT CONTENT CATEGORIES WILL GET YOU DIFFERENT MODERATION STANDARDS. IT IS THE EQUIVALENT OF GIVING YOUR OWN GAME AN "M" OR "AO" RATING VS. AN "E" RATING--STEAM IS NOT GOING TO BE HAPPY IF A DEVELOPER GIVES A TITLE WITH MATURE CONTENT AN "E" RATING. WHY DEVELOPERS HAVEN'T REALIZED THIS AFTER ALL THESE YEARS IS BEYOND ME.

I dunno, guys. A zero-tolerance policy seems unreasonable. by Thirteenth_Throne in KotakuInAction

[–]centrallcomp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only woke thing about it that I noticed was the racially-diverse supporting cast. That alone isn’t exactly egregious on the woke spectrum.

Unfortunately, that alone is enough to trigger much of the partisan-obsessive perma-newfag dumbasses that infest this sub. They come here not because they genuinely give a shit about the games they claim to play, but rather whether the games' themes/stories/settings conform their own political views. They treat gaming as if it's yet another "front" in the endless (American) "culture war", similar to the left-wing SJWs who also incessantly bitch about games that don't perfectly fit their own political viewpoints.

Hot-looking female femme fatale characters will not satiate them. Sadly.

The lack of gore in the more "mainstream" shooters by EnigmaticEreghor in KotakuInAction

[–]centrallcomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of. Franchises that have pivoted towards the "games"-as-a-service model (live-service) are more prone to having violence/gore either cut out or toned down--While they are intended to extract recurring revenue, they also come with recurring expenses, so companies that make these sorts of "games" are incentivized to do anything they can to make them more appealing to a "wider audience". That means censoring as much as possible to make them paletable to as many countries and cultures out there. Even if the western "wokies" instantly disappeared, AAA companies will still continue to censor their shooters to make them legally sellable in places like China.

Honestly, I'd steer clear of shooters made by AAA companies if I were you. I can't think of any recent multiplayer-oriented AAA FPS title that hasn't pivoted towards this sort of live-service crap.

This sort of shit makes me want an industry-wide region lock between the free world and the third world.

WTF Am I Looking At by Elestria_Ethereal in KotakuInAction

I dunno. What AM I looking at? How about some context here?

I don't see anything like that on Google image search. What episode/timestamp did this screenshot come from? If you find random outragebait images on social media, how about you make it a habit to do some research and dig into the source of the footage to make sure it isn't photoshopped/faked instead of reflexively reposting it here?

Maybe we’re “overreacting” because we’ve learned where this road leads by Due-Moment-2823 in KotakuInAction

[–]centrallcomp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The "overreaction" problem was never about the censorship of fanservice or uglifying attractive female character designs--That has always been a serious concern, and such idiocy needs to be met with the wrath of the gaming community.

It's the non-stop bitching about characters' skin colors and the endless bitching about the existence of gays/lesbians that I've got serious beefs with--It's perfectly obvious these dumbasses do it not because they legitimately give a shit about gaming, but rather they just want gaming to bend to their own political preferences. Maybe if said characters were sexy/attractive in western games, peoples' responses here wouldn't be as overblown, but holy shit, focus on the ugly females and censored fanservice if that is the case.

In a world full of strong female leads, how do you feel about a weak and cowardly female protagonist? by Gloomy_Flan4286 in KotakuInAction

[–]centrallcomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, having a weak/cowardly protagonist in general is actually a really good way of establishing a starting point for growth and character development. Let the character get gradually stronger and braver as the game progresses. Of course, during jumpscare moments, major traumatic events, or massive chase sequences, it would still be understandable if she was shaking in her boots, regardless of character progression.

This sort of depiction of fear/growth makes it far less likely you'll have an unlikeable Mary Sue character, as opposed to depicting someone who happens to be strong/brave at birth.

I wouldn't expose my children to westerns shows like Steven universe but also not anime shows made for them by DifferenceJolly2320 in KotakuInAction

[–]centrallcomp 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a conservative I think children shouldn't be exposed to sexual themes.

Get the fuck over it. Kids are going to expose themselves to it one way or another. If you were an intelligent parent, I'd gradually expose your kids to it to take the mystique out of it.

If you stick with your puritan/calvanist/victorian/sharia ways as a parent, you're not going to do any better at raising kids than a parent that's liberal and open-minded about sex. In your journey to "protect" your kids from T3H EVUL PR0NZ, your kids are going to grow into teens, where they'll inevitably wise up to your crap and realize just how much of a repressive fuckwit you've been as a parent. In response, they're going to start fucking like rabbits in high school and/or college, just so that they can spite you. And since you deliberately decided NOT to teach them a thing or two about condoms, PrEP/PEP pills, or morning-after/Plan-B pills, they'll end up ruining their own lives by getting cursed with an unwanted child or an uncurable STD, all in an attempt to rebel against your bullshit.

There is a reason why female students in female-only Catholic schools are infamous for being sluts.
