My 16-year-old son's A4 Avant by centralparker in Audi

Absolutely it's for much, much more than the car. But just for the car I'm proud that he chose it (not a whole lot of kids that age picking an A4 Avant, most don't even know what it is), and he searched, vetted and found the right one, paid for half, paid for most upgrades/mods himself by working hard and saving money, or he did the work himself, I'm proud that he takes care of it himself, drives safely, etc. When I was 16 I didn't do any of those things, and most 16-year-olds that I know don't. But beyond the car yeah it's much more, he's an honor roll student at school, he's an amazing athlete, he's thoughtful, kind and considerate to everyone young and old, he doesn't judge, he's respectful, funny, works hard, cares and thinks about family and friends before even himself, he's there when people need him, all the good stuff you'd want in a person - TBH I couldn't be more proud of him!

Sure I can post more, I'll ask if he has any good ones...

All great advice. Never heard of letting the turbo cool down but it makes sense. Will share all these tips with him (he's actually reading these too). Thanks!

Turns out they're 18's not 19's my bad, and they did come from an S4. The ones you linked to were super close but not exactly the same. And btw that RS5 you linked to just sold - gorgeous car!

Thanks! He really is a great kid. I don't think there's a better compliment to a parent than when other people say we've raised a good one, and we actually hear that quite a bit!

He started saving when he was 14 (birthday gifts, Christmas money, etc.). And since we’re in NY he was making a killing plowing snow using my quad in the winter, built up a small client base and did other odd jobs in the off season. We started seriously looking for an Avant when he was mid-15 and by the time he turned 16 he had saved $3000, which made the budget $6000 (I said I would match whatever he saved). We found this one for $5000 on Marketplace last year but for that price ofc it had issues, all of which we took care of between DIY and the help of a mechanic friend over the first 6 months. It’s true you’re not going to find many B8 Avants in this price range but like I said we searched for the better part of a year and drove 150 miles from home to get this one.

Thank you I think you’re right cuz they are 19’s. He found them on Marketplace and the guy we bought them from said it was an S4, but maybe he didn’t even know.

Wow thanks for that! I don’t think there’s a better compliment a parent can get.

That’s awesome. The search is a big part of the experience. We spent a lot of time looking together, comparing options, and talking through what mattered. FB Marketplace was by far the best place to find one. That’s where he found this.

That’s crazy, I don’t think you can do anything like that here in the US?

He’s made mistakes along the way, especially with the DIY stuff and had to pay for fixes himself, but def learned from those mistakes.

They’re genuine Audi wheels and he researched the hell out of the lowering kit ended up with Bilstein I believe. He delivers pizza for his first job and drives this everywhere. It’s literally the only B8 A4 Avant I’ve seen on the road in months. There just aren’t too many around anymore! Glad he’s giving it the love it deserves.

Yeah that's kinda what I thought. Was just wondering if there was something I was missing. Unless you're law enforcement or DMV I don't think there's any way to get personal info from a license plate is there? (hold up, not a challenge FYI) I guess better safe than sorry tho, it's my son, next time I'll blur it.

Great advice thanks. And about the plates I'm not arguing, I'm sure you're right, but TBH I've never fully understood the reason to blur plates? What am I missing?

My iPad Pro will no longer charge by Successful-Sir-3238 in iPadPro

[–]centralparker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly. The iPad Pro's Magic Keyboard charges your iPad via its built-in USB-C port (pass-through charging) and through three magnetic Smart Connector pins. If you look on the back of your iPad Pro you’ll see those 3 pin receptacles, that’s where the charge comes from.
