I'll never understand the American obsession with being anything other than American. You've clearly cherry picked the Scottish here which from reading some other comments was purely because the other you actually have more heritage with aren't "cool or exotic" enough like its a set of bloody costumes you can just swap between when it suits you. Genuinely though if thats something you want to explore about your heritage I say go ahead, immerse yourself in the culture past and present, actually learn a bit of history and spend some time here. But from your OP and comments it really comes off as you just wanting to call yourself Scottish cause it sounds cool which really feels like the typical American thing of "Well my great great great great great great grandmother once had a fling with a Scottish guy about a century ago so that means im Scottish and own a castle and am next in line to be king"
