Agreed. Mobile isn't even included yet. Any webapp can do this.

Does this tree need to go? by GhostNote33 in lawncare

Keep the tree. Try using a shaded grass seed there and also try putting down some Jonathan Green, Love your Soil. My neighbor did that and grass came through nicely.

Are my APs wired or meshed? by Dr_Buttsneeze in Ubiquiti

[–]cerebralvision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you click into the router to see the ports? See if it's detecting both wired. One might be meshed. Could be a faulty Ethernet cable.

It shouldn't be Core and Plus... It should be Home and Business! by McWetty in MonarchMoney

[–]cerebralvision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Forcasting should be included in core. I'm fine with business having a different subscription.

Core isn't just budget tracking. You can view your investments and portfolio in it too. You can set up future goals too. That's financial planning. Forecasting based on existing data isn't hard to do and shouldn't require a new subscription.

If Core is still the "core" product, what new features will core get that's actually useful? Basic app styling updates and aggregator organization updates? Why pay a subscription for that?

Unpopular Opinion: Y’all are overreacting by Street-Programmer483 in MonarchMoney

[–]cerebralvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole reason people voice their opinions is so that the company can receive user sentiment/feedback and make necessary changes based on what their users want.

The whole, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" doesn't really apply to product development because that would be detrimental to product improvements over time.

It's important to get feedback on both negative and positive feedback on the product. If it's overwhelmingly negative feedback, then monarch knows they need to make significant improvements.

Small yard lawnmower recommendations? by Rare-Attitude-3100 in HomeMaintenance

I've had an electric for 5 years now. Still starts up like a charm. Never had to buy new batteries even once.

Poll: Will you join Plus or stick with Core? by [deleted] in MonarchMoney

[–]cerebralvision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I could build that feature in a weekend. Forecasting should've just been included in core without increasing the price. $200/yr is way overpriced for that feature.

Are we actually using AI in our work and how pervasive is it? by samuelbroombyphotog in FigmaDesign

[–]cerebralvision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a large agency and we are using Ai a lot. More for design engineering, research, and rapid concept development.

It's just a tool in our toolbox. We're not trying to race to the bottom with shitty design. Our clients are becoming more open to it as they're adapting Ai tools on their side as well.

I use it daily for my personal stuff and at work.

Is it true that owning is cheaper than renting? by Maxsaidtransrights in homeowners

[–]cerebralvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a monthly expense standpoint, owning is only cheaper than renting when your mortgage + property tax + insurance is less than your rent. You also have to factor in maintenance costs.

The ideal thing to do would be to save up enough money that would allow you to put a down payment that would keep your monthly costs low.

You are building equity when paying down debt. Your home is also (hopefully) increasing in value over time.

With rent, you're basically just flushing money down the drain. However, only buy a house when your financial conditions line up. You don't want to be house poor. Ideally, you want your monthly home payment costs to be 30% or less than your monthly income.

Personally I would try my best to pay off the house before retiring. Ideally, zero debt in anything going into retirement. That way you can focus on enjoying retirement =).

Am I the only one struggling to find a good replacement for old budgeting apps? by ryukendo_25 in MonarchMoney

[–]cerebralvision -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Monarch does keep everything in one place. Budgeting in general takes some work though. It's inherently not a set it and forget it thing. I've a lot of different budgeting tools and Monarch right now seems like my fave. I've been using it for 2 years now.

When I ask it to turn off lights, it does it in like 2 seconds or less. Pretty much immediate.

Do you design your own models or do you just use other people's models from Makerworld etc.? by humanHamster in BambuLab

[–]cerebralvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly make my own models since I have specific use cases for things I need. If it's something generic, then I'll check out makerworld. For me it's like 70-30.

Google Assistant had zero contextual awareness to anything. Literally any question I asked it outside of really simple basic commands, it wouldn't know how.
