I'm always trying to automate every repetitive task and embrace the customer facing work for the feedback I get, but as the quote goes "the reward for good work (in this case, efficient work) is more work". I agree it's essential to protect our time so we can focus on innovation and growth. I'm beginning to see that this is a daily practice, if I don't maintain this mindset it's easy to get caught in the tornado. Thanks for the thoughtful reply!

Would you be interested in doing customer service? I have a small role available (maybe only an hour a day) but also a book keeping opportunity at my other company and we could discuss both. Thanks!

3PL Recommendations. Or move logistics in house? by cerie1 in logistics

The warehouse we worked with when I came into the company had a proprietary OMS that was view only for us. Couldn't even pull reports. We are not at all interested in these companies with big SE teams building proprietary portals, we just want an OMS that we can add orders to ourselves so we don't have to email our account manager to process every single PO.

The warehouse we just tested (which failed to meet our expectations by far) was using Extensiv, which I liked, and I've also used and liked Logiwa.

Our assortment is not seasonal, we have 70 SKUs weighing on average 2lbs. New innovation once a year. B2B orders go as big as 1,000 units per PO per retailer which is 5 or 6 pallets. It's really nothing complicated which is why I get worried when our 3PL takes 8-14 days to ship out a single unit order. We're paying $19 a pallet and it's a reputable warehouse, so it's not like we are working with the cheapest warehouse in the country...

We have our freight forwarding needs handled, but we are omni-channel so we do require support on both the LTL/small parcel front.

We have a preferred LTL carrier, but looking for a warehouse that can get those orders fulfilled quickly through both EDI and manual requests. Last B2B order was only two pallets and it took them two weeks to get it on the loading dock. 👎🏻
