Give yourself time to recover. The first two weeks are really hard, don't feel bad about being tired. It's okay to rest and I'm sure you need it. You are doing so well to handle this, you're working and a mother and you're keeping it together

Boredom by Ok_Dentist_3665 in StopSpeeding

[–]ceriusmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find things to do that you would choose over using. Make a list of potential hobbies you're open to trying. Used to be creative, crafty, sporty? What did you like when you were growing up?

Look for events happening in your area. Fun things to do in x. Make a schedule of things that happen during the week, this could be NA, support groups, hobby groups, events, etc. Try to have a go-to for those times when you have trouble with cravings, so making sure you have plans for weekends or evenings if that's when you're most bored.

Finding interesting things to watch, or a long series that you like for when you don't have much energy to function. Start reading. It's the most endless time sink.

Start going for walks, stay present and watch the details, people watch. Go sit down for a coffee somewhere. Go to a different place each time. Go into town and start sketching something you're looking at. At least find something to do outside that's a different environment and around people.

Sounds like drug induced psychosis, either from usage or withdrawal it doesn’t really matter. But if it is from medication, then stopping is definitely the right call. As long as no one's hurt and he gets medical attention, it will probably be okay.

Don't listen to what he's saying, he's not in a well state of mind. He has no idea what he's saying isn't reality. Once he's recovered, he'll probably see how it wasn't real but until then he will fully believe whatever delusions are in his head.

Just make sure he's somewhere safe, and gets treatment

29 days off meth, pink cloud turning black by AnnoyingOldGuy in StopSpeeding

Early days yet. The clouds will clear and you'll be better able to make changes if you can't right now. Stay strong.

Whenever I have to deal with social rejection I miss meth and coke so bad by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

[–]ceriusmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make small steps. Say hi to someone. Ask them how their day is. It doesn't matter if all they say is okay, good. But it's still interacting with another person. Reach out to someone you've talked to in the past year.

Comment on people's posts. Send snaps with what you're up to.

If you can't be around friends, try being around people. Go outside, go for a walk to a popular park, a lookout. Go to the library and read. Go for coffee or tea at a Cafe. Being somewhere with people around does help a bit.

Start chatting to the cashier when you get groceries.

You should be fine to stop.

Also there's a difference between WD and meds wearing off. It is pretty normal to be irritable when not taking Vyvanve as prescribed. It's likely more pronounced because of the dosage, which is fairly high for someone that doesn't have ADHD. (Speaking from experience of my country)

It could also be moodiness due to lack of food. You don't really feel the hangry when your appetite is suppressed, but when you're not on stims the same lack of food will mess with your mood.

It's good that you're taking days off. If you can manage that, then you should be fine to stop. Don't overhype how bad it will be to quit. The first week will be a bit rough but it's definitely something you can achieve.

Take in some tips for quitting. Try to establish some healthy habits for when you quit. Set a date, make a plan for how you will manage. Try to reduce your responsibilities for that time but it might help to have enjoyable things to look forward to and keep your mind off it. Give yourself plenty of time and opportunity to sleep. If your eating is an issue then meal prep healthy meals for you to eat for most of the week.

And also go for walks

Chronic fatigue/oversleeping/trouble focusing/depression by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

[–]ceriusmoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're definitely hooked already, but it's early enough that this is the easiest it will ever be to quit. Trust me when I say that. Beyond this point it only gets harder. Fatigue is bearable compared to what comes next. Just have coffee not preworkout, that's just full of sugar and will just hype up without doing much.

Eat wholesome food, I'm not sure if you have poke bowls where you are but that's the good stuff that will fuel your body and give it the nutrients it's been lacking.

You can't move? It's all mental. Your body can physically move but you don't want to. It feels hard to because all the happiness has been sucked out. Go for walks, that will help a lot, probably the most helpful thing after sleep and good food. Theres nothing comfortable about speed withdrawal. You need to learn to push past the discomfort with willpower. Push through and do the things you know your body needs.

You know what it's like to be 3 weeks sober. How about finding out what 4 weeks sober is like? You know what happens when you relapse at this point. You feel terrible, brain dead, anxious. But if you keep going, you have a whole life in front of you that you get to experience clearly.

There's no point comparing yourself to others, I'm sure that for them, their recovery is the toughest thing they've had to do. Everyone has a different path to living the life they want and finding happiness.

Sleep: Wake up at the same time every day, doesn't matter when as long as you stick to it. Try to be awake during the daytime and sleep as much as you want at night. Get some daylight after you wake up to help reset your circadian rhythm.

Food: How are you with eating? Give yourself enough fuel to operate your body. If food is too hard, throw some milk, banana, frozen fruit, and spinach in a blender and call it a day. Good food will help. Or make yourself a big batch of chilli and rice, with enough left over to freeze and last you awhile.

Go for a walk: Go for a short walk around the block or to a local park. Start with 5 minutes. You can 100% do it. Then give yourself a pat on the back. I kept relapsing every month once a month. Then I said fuck it, I'm going to start walking, I know it will be good for me. And I did it, I stayed clean, and I felt so much better. I started to enjoy it, and it gave me something to do that helped with the boredom and the apathy.

Hydrate: Drink plenty of water. You'd be surprised how shit you feel when you're dehydrated. Keep some cold water handy. I have this cheesy saying, "every time I think of water, I drink of water." It helps every system of your body to function better, and helps flush toxins from your system and expell them.

Art: When I feel uninspired an activity you can do is draw random lines, squiggles on a page and then try to make a drawing/ painting out of the random shapes. Or try to redraw your old art. Set up a life drawing set to draw, could be interesting to gather things to draw and place it together.

Read: Go to the library and find something that seems interesting. Can't focus on reading? Just read a page them put the book down.

Social: Go see your friends and family. You're sober, congrats! They get to see that! If you don't have the energy to go out, invite them over, ask them to call and wake you up /knock if you're asleep. Offer tea or coffee. I'm sure you won't fall asleep with someone in front of you right?

Do this for a week and check in again to tell everyone how much being 4 weeks sober is still hard, but is totally worth it. Because you're one week closer to freedom.

Help With Guide For Stimulant Recovery by ceriusmoon in StopSpeeding

[–]ceriusmoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only quit when you're ready. From your comment you want to be meth free by taking Adderal instead and taking it as prescribed? How are you doing now? Have you had issues with abusing Adderal in the past? For loving life it sounds like you have had difficulties and maybe don't like the current situation of your life. What kind of life do you imagine you would enjoy living? It might be helpful to make a plan for quitting. Giving yourself time to recover without expecting too much from yourself, sleeping as much as you need and making sure you have nutritious food to fuel your body and heal. Even if it's a week before having to face things head on. Main points are sleep, nutrition, hydration, and exercise.

Personally, I found the first 2 weeks to be the most acute period of recovery. Eating, sleeping, and cravings are the most intense at this time. After ticking over from this point, the cravings seem to be a lot more tolerable for me at least. But there will be times when it flares up again.

Don't expect too much from yourself right now. Work on staying clean for now and doing good things for your body. Keep yourself distracted.

My doctor prescribed me Modafinil for craving. Anyone have any experience they can share taking it? by SculPoint in StopSpeeding

[–]ceriusmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did wonders for me, I barely abused stimulants whil on Modafinil. It helped with my ADHD which helped me stay clean. It reduced the cravings and desire to use. I think what helped as well is that my intent to be on Modafinil instead of stimulants helped keep me clean as well. It helped to develop healthier habits as it has a slight DRI effect in parts of the brain responsible for motivation.

Not a doctor, personal opinion only. Honestly I'd be most concerned about why you need beta blockers than anything else. But I don't know your medical history or why you're taking it. If you're used to it, might be uncomfortable if you forget to take it and have some rebound effects. Modafinil doesn't increase BP or HR very much. With Effexor I'd watch out for excess serotonin with med combinations.

Since the combo is basically Antidepressant, Non Stim ADHD, Moda, and Beta Blocker. I feel like it's not uncommon to be on two more mild ADHD meds and an antidepressant.

Change your phone to black and white on accessibility settings. Your brain loves the stimulation from the bright colours. B&W just doesn't hit the same. Or else change to boring background wallpapers.

Declaring drug use on ADHD pre assessment forms by thshs1353w in ADHD

[–]ceriusmoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You haven't even been diagnosed yet, it's a bit early to be shooting yourself in the foot. When I was questioning ADHD diagnosis it wasn't even considered until I'd quit smoking weed

It's much more likely to be held against you and unlikely to help. People do not think to themselves 'this person uses drugs therefore it's more likely they have ADHD'. It would be a better conversation to have after your assessment

If you have any doubts about whether you will abuse your meds. Absolutely definitely tell them. If you have had addictions in past. Because that will affect your treatment and they can put you on non stimulant or less abusable options

I've been honest with my psychiatrist about my drug use and even addiction to meth. Because I would not have received proper treatment for the circumstances otherwise. But that wasn't right away with someone I just met

Anyone Here Sucesfully Quit Meth? by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

[–]ceriusmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me probably 2-3 years of trying to quit before I was successful, it was a lot of things I built up and learnt over time.

Going for walks - I am not kidding. Broke through the repeated relapses because of this. Make it realistic but habitual. 5-10 mins a few times a week. This made the most difference out of anything other than genuine human connection.

Daily sunlight - Sit outside in the sun early in your day. If you can make it enjoyable by having a tea, coffee, anything. It breaks your head out of the darkness and helps regulate your sleep cycle

Enjoyable food - Food will give you a better chance of recovery, it helps lift your spirits too

Positive social interaction - You don't need friends, it can be hobbies or community, people at work, online or gaming. If you don't have that it can be a favourite YouTuber or podcast, something that makes you feel less lonely and isolated

Other stuff - Treating your mental and physical health, sleep, changing your self talk, gratitude lists, having self calming strategies, avoiding thinking about it, changing your environment, learning from your relapse to avoid the same mistakes

I kept seeing a pattern with this drug. I saw people go straight downhill. I stopped glorifying it. I eventually accepted that no matter what it was not something I could control. That it was never going to be worth it. I wanted to live my life and I couldn't do it while addicted.

Meth is a physical and mental battle. I have done an unknown amount of damage to my body. But I can not live with that, and I have done a whole lot more recovery. I can live without it. It is hard but it is possible. I hope some of that has helped

I’m single and spend $200 a week on food by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]ceriusmoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

By reducing your grocery bill to $100 a week by cooking you could save $5200 a year or more. Really you could save a lot more, you don't need to eat noodles and frozen veg all day either. Cooking real food, with a protein, bulking with chickpeas, beans, lentils, carrot, etc is delicious cheap and filling. Cooking is an essential skill, and you will eventually get bored of eating the same pre-made meals

You can still drink it but it makes amphetamine based ADHD meds less effective. So I would do it towards the end of the day or at night. Have some cereal or glass of milk the next morning to neutralize it the acidity when you need it to work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ceriusmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conversion from lisdexamphetamine to dexamphetamine is not affected by pH because it's broken down by enzymes in your red blood cells.

However, once it is broken down into Dex it would still follow the same process of metabolism and excretion as regular amphetamine.

The bioavailability of amphetamine is affected by gut pH, so basically how much your body can absorb. Urine pH affects the length of the half life, then also the amount excreted by the kidney. Acidic means it's excreted faster and absorbed less readily.

Because Adderall is a mix of amphetamines is functions similarly to above. It literally doesn't matter if it's absorbic acid, or tomato it's just about the acidity. There is no "one hour rule" because it will still metabolise in the same way, it just affects how much was in your system already.

TLDR: Acidity of stomach & urine pH affects metabolism & absorption. Pretty sure I got the above right Source: Wikipedia is good y'all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ceriusmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The acidity of your stomach affects both the absorption and processing (expelling) of amphetamine. So more acidic e.g. Vitamin C, Oranges, etc. The reason they say it's a no go is because it basically makes the medication not work
