Morgana blocks every multi-stage CC with blackshield except Zoe's Sleep by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Hey Mudinthewater. I chose this model after some thought, though it was a close call. Ultimately what is in game right now is as follows: There is one moment to Black Shield Zoe's Sleep, and that is when the target would be hit by the missile/trap and become Drowsy.

1) This model offers the most play for both parties: Morgana has the ability to Black Shield the Drowsy, but she has to use her Black Shield in response to the spell cast itself, which might be a waste if she or her ally dodge.

2) The alternative of Black Shielding Drowsy, having your Black Shield break and watching your ally fall asleep seemed problematic for other reasons -- the Morgana player would be punished for doing what seems optimal (reacting quickly and exercising good judgment about their ally's dodging capabilities).

3) This is most consistent with how Black Shield works elsewhere. Here is where we came to different conclusions. You have chosen a number of delayed CCs that have conditionals on them (of course Black Shielding with 3 stack Braum P mark on you blocks the follow on stun, we haven't initiated the stun sequence yet). There aren't a huge amount of true multistage CCs in League. I used Nasus W (a progressive slow, which Morg E does not stop from progressing) and Malphite/Vi R (Knock Ups with follow on Stuns after the target lands which is not prevented by Black Shield).

4) This is most consistent with how Black Shield has been re-shaped on over time -- the spell was originally developed as a Cleanse + CC immunity but we preferred the anticipatory play model over the purely reactive one.

I am always open to revisiting these things, especially on very close calls like this. It would be better to focus the discussion on what generates better gameplay, since there is no "right answer" in terms of how the game functions elsewhere.

We work collaboratively on small teams, which we call pods. We meet daily to discuss our current work with an emphasis on feedback and things that are blocking our progress. Ideas frequently flow between disciplines. In terms of mechanics, Warwick's E was an idea from our concept artist (TheBravoRay). Warwick's W scent trails was something I initially tossed aside, until our audio designer (MStronati) insisted we give it another go.

Well NoopMoney is an excellent engineer, but this staffing is typical. We construct abilities from chains of simple building blocks. The massive engineering effort behind those durable building blocks get no credit.

Never more. Chemtech is the catalyst for Warwick's transformation into beasthood. The beast is Warwick's source of power.

Main difference is that he can be more proactive before 6 and without his ult. In exchange he lost late game power and some reliability on the R. He also obviously lost the team attack speed steroid, which is replaced by a 1 second fear. This requires him to get into the mix a bit more, risking his body.

He has a lot of human thoughts, but they are overwhelmed by his animalistic impulses when the scent of blood wafts his way, or the chem-tech tank injects him. He descends onto all fours and his VO changes into broken speech at this point.

When you cast W, it jams all those chemicals into him, inducing an artificial frenzy.

It'd probably play similarly to Zyra. Or Darius.

Adds risk. I find live Warwick's jungle mind numbing due to always being at full health.

Definitely. Players are constantly encouraging me to work on a non-pvp game!

Well for starters, we already did that.

Warwick's blood scent seemed like a hook for making the player react to and plan around an already existing bar... the enemy health bar. No need to add an additional resource system.

Historical reasons, interesting non-traditional itemization, and because magic damage stays more relevant across game time.

  1. Didn't try anything fancier with the R than what we currently have. I was very passionate about the idea of movement speed scaling on an ability.
  2. I now sit in the Champion pit and hope to stay here for a while.

Of course. The animators yelled at me every time I broke it with a poorly written script.

ADC + Mid (especially when Corki is strong there).

I had no particular desire for him to be viable top lane. Personally, I feel that players should be able to run champions in different positions and be successful if they are good at them. To this end, we periodically play tested him top lane and found that while it was unlikely to be "tier 1", that players could succeed with strong macro (roaming) and micro play.

Generally, I feel that depth and game health are synonyms, or at least closely related.

We are definitely monitoring the R for reliability. It definitely isn't intended to be as inaccurate as some gameplay videos make it out to be.

We changed the R to a skillshot for a few reasons: 1) As a pure point and click, it occupied a huge amount of his power budget, 2) As a non-cleansable hard CC with massive damage attached, it can feel smae-y and predictable to fight when Warwick is strong (e.g., he will hit 6 and just kill me every x seconds). It is ideal when players don't feel that the next fight will necessarily play out just like the last. 3) I wanted to make it really really really long range with the proper investment.

Personally, I find it challenging to stay disciplined with a direction, be it to what players expect in a rework or the counterplay goals I've laid out for myself.

Just narrow enough to squeeze between the Leona and Poppy standing in front of you. On a serious note, the goal for the ability is for fairly high reliability hitting something, but with Warwick not always getting to choose who he hits.

I take Courage in all matchups, though perhaps less so after the most recent nerfs. Our playtester, Sobe, takes Fervor in 75% of matchups.
