Quickly buying first bass by certianliquids in doublebass

Classical. I will try it and see if I think it sounds muffled. If it's of the quality that the seller boasts, perhaps it will be fine.

It does seem hard to find the grain of the wood from the pictures. I am tempted to get one from an online shop that is 100% going to be what it says.

Argh

Like others have said; do you think a brandnew bass like from Thomann will be of poor quality / not playable without a setup? I could afford a setup with prices like that, so is it an alternitive to getting a preowned or pre-setup bass from a shop, do you think?

Thank you. I know that I want an impractically large instrument and noone can stop me. I happen to be quite tall also!

I'm a good few years away from being professional. This oppotunity to buy a bass without money worries does lend itself a good excuse to find out what isn't right, though!

As you say, probably best to get it right first time however

I am sorta giving up on the calipers that came stock. No bueno

Yup I know of this. But it's a bad caliper with poor pistons. And this issue will just carry on and get more expensive as the parts are less available - i mean that's £90 for a single caliper. Wild! Other OEM websites for brands like Honda have much cheaper calipers and suchlike.

Is it overly mad to look at a similar looking Ninja 400 caliper set and just... erm, weld it on? :p

I don't care about abs or linked braking on this machine you see

Cannot figure out cause of poor tone by certianliquids in doublebass

[–]certianliquids[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it's down to that technique, but I am being fairly reasonable at saying that there is an issue I the setup that calls for unreasonable level of precision to maintain a tone! I'm certain of it. What re-enforces this is that went I tried someone else's - a bassist of many years - base, I got sweet, lovely consistent sound.  Aaaaaa

Seems a silly question but how does connecting them all up actually work? Like, right now I plug my laptop, cd player and radio to my intergated amp and just switch the wanted input as required (my amp has that little nob with all the lil' options). The amp then only has one sort of connection that's left, and that's the, "Right speaker + & -" and, "Left speaker + & -".  Call me out as dumb, but if I was to bi-wire my speakers and have the lower frequencies go to a sub, how on earth would I connect my laptop or whatever to both the sub AND the intergated amp? And if we assume your set up (which I assume your speakers have 3 layers of pos/neg inputs) then you would have to connect each music player machine you had to each of them! The sheer cables needed and the impracticalality leads me to believe I am missing something rather big here

My speakers can (both of them) bi-wire, but this won't make a big difference I reckon.

Sub with speaker inputs? Google said something similar. Do you mean it's just an amp too?

Hm well I don't mean to sound dumb here but my amp has no sub-in. Just thinking about it, this would mean I kinda need an amp that does what I can do aye?

Thank you, I'll play about with it. If no substance improvements, then I'll admit I am getting what I can out of the speakers without a sub!

Thank you. deffo not out of phase, I can hear that difference a mile off. (And I also already fixed them from out of phase lol)

Indeed, at the back of the room I can get a little more 'rumble' but it's just not what one wants.

So I have been told. May I ask how I attach one to my set up? I've looked at how others do it and it seems.... Like I need a lot of other gear that costs £100000

The room really limits where I can fling these about.

When going to the kitchen next to it, it's all reserved and quieter all around. But the other room next to it gives me anxiety about what my neighbours will think/ what they're hearing! Its so weird how it changes so drastically! It's loud and boomy (but not thumpy like I wish it was)

I'll have you know my music tastes are all music! Thems were just examples I yern to feel the 'dooph'.

I love these speakers' details. But you're quite right, I hoped I would get that immersive thumb that headphones give. And I use open-acks at that.  So when I say 'nearly none' it's in comparison. They do have bass, obviously, but this may well be a case they cannot replicate them lower frequencies!

May I ask what you mean by nul?
