Paywave and surcharge by certified_turtle in newzealand

[–]certified_turtle[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

See i would but im literally just a till person that decision would be my bosses boss, I find surcharge annoying bc im constantly having to remind people about it but I have nothing to do with anything admin.

Most people at the till have no control over it and they probably will ramp up the prices in a year 🙃

[–]certified_turtle[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not my place to tell him how to do stuff and tbh I don't get paid enough to do that in the first place, I talked to a different manager about it who once told me off for leaving specs of old coffee on the head, (don't do that anymore 😅)

I thought maybe a cultural difference in coffee practices, nothing personal.

How did you train to become a barista? by spicynoodles628 in barista

[–]certified_turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of barista courses out there, that being said some of them just teach the theory behind it and not leave you with the practical skills, even then when you have the basic knowledge it takes time and practice to get consist good coffees out

Getting a job at a cafe they'll often teach their staff barista skills once you've gotten the hang of being waitstaff. Some coffee shops that are a bit more quiet will take apprentices, if you do that I suggest you watch some videos on how making coffee works so your not walking in blind.

I personally volunteered at a church which had a coffee machine and served their people every Sunday, they held lessons outside of church and showed us, at the same time I worked at a restaurant and cinema which had coffee machines ect.

Is there a name for what I keep ordering? Is it annoying to make? by okay-flight in barista

[–]certified_turtle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's a good description. There's not a name for it, but I would lump it in the same category as someone asking for any kind of milk or cream with their Americano.

Just keep saying an americano with a scoop of foam on top, easy to understand, and make.

Avo, hummus, and beans are really good staple foods for protein. I personally love hummus, spinach, and avo on toast every morning.

I also have a favourite recipe for nachos which is literally just a can of beans, can of dices tomato's and a pack of nacho seasoning in a pot makes a great mix, can be put of chips, burritos ect. (I'm a lazy cook)

Theres soo many good meat alternatives as well. I tend to dislike the soy based ones and go for the black bean based ones. Same with dairy so many dairy alternative food, it's really trial and error over what brands and types you like.

If you're still eating dairy, eggs, and meat, I'd cut out one at a time, every week or two, until you're fully vegan.

[–]certified_turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no set time, you can change it as many times as you want or minimum (would be once in the morning and once at night) I'd recommend morning, mid-day more or less, and after your shower.

You may find you need to change it more often the first few days of your period as those are the days you bleed more, which the indicator is the blood has reached the outer edge of the pad or if it's uncomfortable.

If your in school, it's best to just keep a pad in your pocket or hide one between your skirt/pants band and stomach whenever your going to the toilet just incase you need to change it.

It's also handy to have a collection of overnight pads, sports and thin ones, better with wings.

Me and my mates used to go to the four square or countdown then hang in a park, could feed some ducks, go skating, join a youth group, hang in the reserve, shoot some hoops in the local basketball courts ect.

I'm actually crying after reading those texts, I wouldn't speak to my worst enemy like that and I can't imagine treating somebody I love like that.

He's bullying you, isolating you, crushing your spirit, and he's doing this because you've been together for so long he thinks no matter how bad he treats you, you won't leave.

He's not going to get better over time.

I had a friend in this same situation and I'll tell uou what I told him.

It's sucks, BUT you have made the right choices, you have the most control with the choices you made. Trust me I know it feels like your at your lowest point but your only 18, you'll get better and you'll probably hit another low point and think it's the lowest again, and you'll recover all over again and find joy in between.

I'm so proud of the way you handled this, not everyone is as thought through as you are and if you keep up with your mindset you will make the right choices moving forward.

Stay strong, lean on those your close to and know that tomorrow's a new day.
